Plans for Father's Day...
Ok so I was thinking of going to the Zoo since we couldn't go for DS's 1st Birthday because of the rain. I told DH last night and said "since we couldn't go for Matty's birthday how would you feel about going to the zoo with your son for Father's Day. He said he's fine with whatever we want to do. Then he said "Will your mom be upset if we don't go next door for dinner with your dad and brother and his FIL", and that's when the gray cloud came into my idea of going to the zoo. My mother is Italian, worse she's Sicilian. I don't need to say anymore on whether or not she'd be offended if we missed dinner...
Now I'm torn between what to do and part of me was just going to say cancel the zoo again but then the other part said "wait a minute for Mother's Day my brother went out to "brunch" with his in laws and then later in the day came down and gave my mom her gift" she couldn't go to brunch cuz my dad was not feeling well. So if she says anything I will bring up that fact. It's not like we are ditching my Dad. We will see him later on in the day. We are planning on going to the Queens zoo after DS's nap. Zoo is open till 5:30 and I don't think we need more than 3 hours at the Queens Zoo.
What do you ladies think...

I think you should certainly go to the zoo then have dinner. Don't forget it's DH's Father's day too. But I know what you're saying because I was thinking something similar. At first I was thinking whatever my dad wants to do, but then remembered that now it's whatever DH wants to do.

It sounds reasonable to me, although I am not Italian...I am Irish. It's your DH's day too, why should he not be able to enjoy it doing what he'd like to do with his family?? As you said, you'll join everyone else later on in the day.

Re: Plans for Father's Day...
I agree...
Like I said, it's not like we were going to ignore my dad. We will see him later on. My dad doesn't even care really, he's a simple man and would not get offended. It's my mother who would get offended. My dad doesn't even make a big deal out of his birthday.
Plus it is Father's Day for DH too and I figured he'd enjoy the zoo with his son and DH is a major animal lover as well so he would love it! He already said that if we go he'd like to go to the petting zoo there as well.
And another plus is that the weather is going to be 87 degrees...

My poor DH has to work on Father's Day His first one too!
I am going to take the baby to Montauk to see my dad in the early morning so I can be home by the time DH gets home from work to do something with him.

Re: Plans for Father's Day...
We have a wedding that day so my DH doesnt get to spend it with the kids or relaxing (although I suppose being without the kids is relaxing LOL) I think we will celebrate it either on Sat or Mon, whichever day he is off.

Mine does too and that is what I am going to do.
I think you should stick to your plan and then visit Dad later. You;ll still be seeing him on the day so your mom shouldn't be too upset. But I have an Italian mom too so you never know

Re: Plans for Father's Day...
I know your dad very well, and I think he'd be THRILLED to hear what fun his grandson had visiting the animals!
and you will see him later !
absolutely GO !
A few times we did something in the morning with daddy and the boys, and then saw the family later on.
GO FOR IT !
