Please Answer This Question About Lamaze.....
I thought of only renting the video and watching the Lamaze video with my husband at home. I thought this was really optional. My doctor's office has a listing with numbers and providers who do this and they said on this posting that it's recommended only. I was talking with someone whom is a mother and she said that in order for your husband to be with you in the delivery room, you both have to take Lamaze classes otherwise he's not allowed in there. Is this true? I'm going to need all the support that I need during delivery and my husband would not want to miss this moment in our lives either..... Any information is appreciated !!

I've never heard of a requirement of any kind for whoever you choose to be in the room with you.
(although I do recommend taking a weekend course at your hospital if you can to get a tour and learn what to expect)

Some hospitals used to require it but I think most of them allow Dh to be there with you. Call and ask just to be sure.

Re: Please Answer This Question About Lamaze.....
i didn't take lamaze and if someone tried to tell me my hubby couldn't be in the room, I'd tell them then I am giving birth in whatever room they are sending him and to try and stop me. They can't send your hubby out. You'd just throw a big enough tantrum to make them let him stay. I'm being serious. It's just ONE method that people use. It's not the ONLY method

Re: Please Answer This Question About Lamaze.....
I have heard that some places won't let DH be in the room in a c-section without lamaze. Not sure how that makes sense, but I have heard that.

Never heard of that before! We never went to any classes and he was with me the whole time! It was great!

Re: Please Answer This Question About Lamaze.....
I'm going to ask my doctor's office and maybe contact the hospital and find out. I'm definitely planning to take some of the prenatal classes available and offered at the hospital. And Rachel I was thinking just like you when they told me that.....if there's one person that should be present no matter should be the husband and future father of the baby being born...... I thought I'd ask here. Everyone here is always so informative.....

Re: Please Answer This Question About Lamaze.....
Good sam told me Lamaze and their Csection class was required. I took it, however someone told me other wise. I don't know the truth because I'm still confused. However, either way...I have both JUST IN CASE!

Re: Please Answer This Question About Lamaze.....
I dont think it still is the case but I know my dad was NOT allowed in the room for all 3 of us bc he did not attend lamaze with my mom. I do not know if this is still the case.

I don't think that is the case anymore, It used to be. We took a childcare/lamaze class but no one at the hospital knew that and no one said DH couldn't come in with me.

Re: Please Answer This Question About Lamaze.....
The only time I ever heard of a husband not being allowed in the room is when it is a c-section under general anesthesia and that is regardless of what classes you've taken. Any other situation I found ridiculous.

Re: Please Answer This Question About Lamaze.....
I gave birth at Good Sam and they did not require lamaze, but they did require dh take a c section class and get a certificate to show in case of an emergency c section- he needed the certificate if he wanted to be in the room.
The class was free.
