Please help a fashion challenged mommy find a dress
I was asked to be godmother to my friends daughter and will be going to Colorado in November for the christening. November can be their coldest month and I am trying to find a dress for Victoria to wear to the christening. She is still in most 12 month clothes - 18 months are still pretty big on her.
I am not a "dress" or "girlie" shopper so I could really use some help for something nice for her to wear.

It's not usually that cold here in November. I would get something versatile. Like a dress with a sweater or wrap of some kind.
You can have a 30 degree day or a 70 degree, it's totally hit or miss. There might be snow, there might now.

Donna, i agree...even a dress with short sleeves will work and a cardigan over it.

Do you have a dress coat you could bring just in case?
The weather here is so hit or miss. We did have a crazy Thanksgiving last year but like I said we've had times when it's 70 degrees in November. I'd rather layer up than be too hot.
What part of CO? If she's up in the mountains that might be different. I'm down in the burbs.
ETA: I thought you were looking for yourself. Sorry. I still think that dress would be OK with a sweater to go over it. Could you get two dresses and just return whichever one you don't use? Gap has some adorable sweater dresses.

She's in Littleton (she did live in a different part when I went to visit a few years ago) and I fell in love with Colorado. I remember 2 days being warm but then late afternoon and evening being cold and snowy.
I'm just not good at picking out girly clothing so I need the help!

I would get a dress with a sweater or jacket to match. My niece was our flowergirl in our November wedding (outdoor ceremony) and I got her a sweater to go over her dress just in case. She ended up needing it because it was a little cooler that morning.
I was in BRU the other day and they already have the Fall clothing out so you should look there. Maybe places like Macy's and similar.

The Carters Store in Carle Place has tons of cute dresses! I was just there yesterday! They also have adorable sweaters that match!

Oh I love this one! You can dress it up for the Christening then pair it with jeans for a more casual look and get lots of use out of it.
I think that would probably be great for November because the gap sweater stuff isn't super thick and heavy.

Their website doesn't have a lot but places like Nordstroms and L&T will have little dresses that are appropriate I would get one and get a cardigan to put over it if you don't get long sleeves and stockings. That is how all the little girls were dressed for christmas brunch and thanksgiving last year.
On Gymborees site for example:
Something like this with a white long sleeve blouse underneath, stockings and a dressy pair of shoes would be adorable:
