Please help.. for those who have nursed a baby that refuses a bottle
OK so I started her on a bottle at 3.5 weeks, but she only has them a few times a week and now completely refuses it. She is 4.5 mos. I really want her to take a bottle and tried all weekend w/ no success. She is so stubborn and presently nursing.
With my son I had the same problem, bu he accepted a cup at 5 mos w/ no problem. My dd is just not ready for that. ( I tried) I keep having my dh try w/ the bottle, but she screams like someone is pinching her. It is so aweful.
Would you let her cry like that? and so how long? Any suggestions? We are going to disney in 4 weeks and I need her to take some bottles.

Re: Please help.. for those who have nursed a baby that refuses a bottle
i know what thats like. DD refused too after taking it for a few weeks. the ONLY thing that worked was finding the right nipple which took time. i FINALLY realized that since she loves her NUK binky that maybe she would like the similar NUK bottle nipple. it worked and she was willing to take it. wish i could offer more. good luck!

Re: Please help.. for those who have nursed a baby that refuses a bottle
I am going through the same thing with my 9 week old. We are just being persistent. My DH has to give her the bottle, she will NOT take it from me, but I'm okay with that. She puts up a fight with crying pushing the nipple out for 5-10 minutes. So she took 2 bottles from him today, and I'm hoping she'll take another one in about an hour and then I'll nurse her to top it off. I'm praying it goes according to plan Oh, I heard the adiri bottle is good. I ordered one (12.95 for 1 ) and the nipple flow is to slow so I think we'll order the faster flow one. Hope this helps :)

we had the same problem. At first he took the bottle for about the first 2 months.
one day, he just stopped and treated it like it was a toy.
I left him with my mother one afternoon, came home and nothing was drank...she said he acted like he did not even know what to do with it.

Well, I'm glad we're not alone. I think I will try the adira bottles, but I am not very hopeful. Thanks!

Mine never took bottles... May I ask why you need bottles in Disney?

3 reasons One, I don't want to be slowed down by ALWAYS nursing, because I am not that comfortable nursing in public and my older one is always on the go. Besides we are driving and I would like to be able to give her an occasional bottle in her car seat
Two, I'd like to be able to have a glass of wine with dinner.
Three, we are thinking of having my in-laws babysit one night so we can have a night out.

totally off subject, but I nurse him in his carseat all the time
just so you know...if you are ever in a bind, with some flexibity, its totally possible.

I do that too my DH calls it torpedo boob
I totally understand how it is having them tied to the boob. I would just have someone else offer it, if they are really that hungry they will take it. Try different nipples.
I've nursed my way thru Disney 3x, you can have a drink while nursing and I never really trusted anyone with my newborns. We are all different I hope it works out for you

Ill do you one better. My DH was driving his truck. 3 car seats in the back. Me flopped over the seat with the baby rear facing me, 1/2 dangeling 1/2 in Jeremys seat feeding the baby. What I would do to not stop the car

Re: Please help.. for those who have nursed a baby that refuses a bottle
My DS had this problem. We went to a feeding specialist who gave us a speciall needs feeder. It is a bottle with a valve system. DS could not figure out how to get the milk to flow properly and would basically choke - but with the valve system he can drink from a bottle. If you call medella they sell them. They are called special needs feeders with valve systems. But they are expensive - $27 per system....
