please help Im dont know if this is normal?
Bryan is 2 and he talks quite a bit has over 200+ words some even complex words but lots of times when we ask him questions he wont respond with yes or no he will say the last word we said like for example we will say do you want Juice he will respond with "juice". Like he is agreeing with us. I was just researching this online ( bad i know) but it says that it could be an early sign of autism- Im beyond FREAKING right now. I dont know what to do. He asks us questions and always tells us what he wants and he put together short sentances. In every other aspect he is great, very social... but the question thing is really eating at me. Another example is I will ask him about school and he will say school. SOmethings he will say no to though like going to bed I ask him if he wants to go to bed he will say " no" Do you think Im being silly or is this a valid concern...

First off, breathe, breathe, breath
While the internet is one of the greatest inventions ever it is also the worst because some of the information can cause you to absolutely panic for no reason.
I don't know the answer to your question. But let's not panic before we do.
There are a couple of women on this board that know a lot about autism (lipglossjunky works with autistic kids) so FM them.
I'd also call the ped and see what he/she says.

Re: please help Im dont know if this is normal?
I am an autism professional...
Please don't panic and see this as a sign of autism. while echolalia can be one of the symptoms of autism, if this is in isolation, then it may be more of a language processing issue. If he is social, has joint attention, requesting, pointing, engaging in symbolic and pretend play, seeking you out, playing with other kids his age, using toys appropriately, etc, then I would not be too concerned.
FM me with any questions, concerns, etc, and I may be able to help you out a little!
ETA - it may not even be a language processing issue either, it could be his way of saying yes. You may need to teach him how to say yes when he wants something instead of repeating the last word. He still is very young. If he was 3 or 4, I would be more concerned, but he's only 2 and seems to have a lot of language....

Re: please help Im dont know if this is normal?
My daughter was 2 in April and does the same thing. We just came back from Sesame Place and if I ask her who did we see she will say, "who did we see". If I ask her did you see Piccnolcio she was will say no I saw Elmo. I am starting to think that choice questions and yes or no questions are the way too go and that they are still just a little to young for the more advanced questions.
Don't panic
