Please help! Making DD's birthday invite w/ Photoshop ... (pic) - EDIT with 2nd version
I am attempting to create DD's 2nd birthday invitation because I just can't find anything online that is simple to personalize and order easily. We are doing a Dora theme. I came up with a verrrrrry basic (and boring) invitation (well, really, I copied the idea from something I found), and with my TOTAL LACK of photoshop skills, I can't really figure out what else I can do.
Any ideas? Anything simple and fun to 'jazz it up'? I wanted to do a background color, but the pictures both have white rectangular backgrounds. If not a background, maybe a border (I don't remember how to do that!)? Also, is Boots' picture too blurry? Any help is MUCH appreciated!
So I did just a few things - added the border, changed the font to non-italics (I hadn't even realized it was italicized in the first place), chose the more vibrant purple and added a drop shadow to "Kaitlyn's 2nd Birthday Party!"

I was going to do Dora or Minnie Mouse but had the same problem. So instead, I just did an invitation that I liked. All thought I did just get an idea so lets see how it comes out

I think it looks really cute! Good Job!!!
I would just add the TOWN of where the party is, just in case someone from a different town is coming.
Have fun!!!

I would add a border in the same color as a color in the invite (Dora's shirt, Boot's boots).
To do it you would need to add a box in one of the first layers. Then take the white box, text, etc - and shrink them a little bit.

That last one is a bunch of different colored circles lying on top of each other with a different color stroke on each one.

I'm desperately trying to do this right now.
I made layer 1 a purple box.
I made layer 2 a white box (since the pics have a white background).
I am now trying to make layer 2 a SMALLER box so as to show the border of purple. It's not working. It keeps making another layer or ugh, just not working!! Any helpful tips?
ETA: I realized they're not actually layers 1 and 2, but shapes 1 and 2. FYI.

Thanks for posting those, Tine! I saw those on tinyprints, but I decided I want the "real" Dora and Boots pictures.

Re: Please help! Making DD's birthday invite w/ Photoshop ... (pic) - EDIT with 2nd version
I finally got the newest version to post (in OP) - which purple do you all like better? The more subdued one (invite #1) or the more vibrant one (invite #2). Both come from Dora's backpack.

I love them both - great job! I like the second one better though! You rock!
I agree with C - how fun would it be to have a birthday cake for all four of them one year!

Now that I've seen the colored background, I think that's what would add to it.
Posted by InShock I made layer 2 a white box (since the pics have a white background).
You can erase the white parts. Use the selection tools & delete. If you can't do it, FM me & I can erase them for you & email it back for you to use.
Great job!

I did this! Thank you so much! I will post the final copy later. Any suggestions on where to order it as an invitation? I don't want it to print like a picture, right?
