Please help me!!
Im so unhappy with myself at this point and I do not know what to do...
Ive popped in and out of this board since having DS but can never stick to anything for more than a week or 2.
Previously to having DS I did weight watchers and lost over 60lbs-
When I got pregnant I was 145lbs and wearing a 5-7, back then I still wanted to lose more- but now Id kill to go back to that.
I never officially "joined" weight watchers, I bought some books and did it all myself. Never one meeting, never one weigh in. I worked full time, and went to school full time nights, so there really wasnt any "time" to cheat, and I do relate that to my success. I did tae-bo about 3 nights/week and after losing a bulk of the weight I joined a gym.
I gained close to 50lbs during my pregnancy, putting myself at close to 200lbs. Within 2 weeks I had lost about 25lbs- weighing 167lbs. Now my son is 2.5yrs old. My weight has fluctuated between 162-and now my current 173 (but the usual is between 165-170)
Im sad, and so self consicious. Ideally Id love to be back at that 145 and I try to put myself on weight watchers but I just cant stick to it. Either my loss' are so small that I get fustrated and give up, or I get fustrated with cooking 2 meals (1 for myself and 1 for my family) and end up throwing in the towel...
Where do I go from here? What do I do? Im so unhappy with my weight that I even put off TTC because I cant even think about gaining more weight being at the weight Im at now...
Any suggestions, is greatly appreciated!

Re: Please help me!!
have you considered joining WW and attending the meetings? I felt it really helped me..I have a hard time doing it on my own.
And remember slow and steady wins the race. You can't expect it to come off quickly. First of all it's not healthy that way! And secondly it's not normal to have "the biggest loser" type weight loss. 1-3 lbs a week is a success!!!
Also - try to make one change at a time. Don't look at it as all or nothing - make a small change this week - then another change next week. It's easier to stick to when you make the changes gradually.

Re: Please help me!!
I think the difference for me this time is that I"m not focusing on the weight loss. The weight loss is secondary - what's primary is my health and changing my lifestyle.
Everytime I put something in my mouth I think about how this is helping or hurting my health. I try to think about the long-term, about being around for my children for a long time ahead, and being able to participate actively with them.
Also, I try to think very clearly about the example I'm setting for my daughter. She mimics everything I do, including everything I put in my mouth. I learned HORRIBLE eating habits and a sedentary lifestyle from my parents and it's a life mission now to change that and start anew with my daughter.
So, I only eat what I think will set a good example for her. And the more veggies and fruit I eat, the more she sits down with me and eats it with me, instead of whining for cookies, crackers and cake.
So, essentially, it's about focusing on the bigger picture an realizing that it's not about the weight loss. It's more about a longterm lifestyle change that you just have to commit to, for me, it seriously helped to join WW. ANd I no longer kill myself to work out like a maniac to lose those extra pounds. Now, I focus on only one thing - to make each and every single day less sedentary. Even if it means walking to the train or taking a nice walk during my lunch break, it's more than what I was doing a few months ago on a daily basis. And you'll be amazed at how those little steps add up.

ITA!
I follow a low carb lifestyle since I have a gluten sensitivity, but it became more about being healthy and feeling good, and the weight loss is a great extra!!
I've lost over 30 pounds!

Re: Please help me!!
I was so discouraged too at one point, and honestly, I can't tell you how many times I have been to WW and fell off the wagon. I hope what I have to say helps. First, I joined a kickboxing class, where the same people go all the time, so they motivate me to go back. This way, I am more motivated to eat better.
If you do core for two weeks or so, you can cook one meal for both of you. I have made some delicious meals with only core ingrediants that my husband has no idea are healthy WW meals.
Also, I found that If I figure out my meals and snacks the night before and cross each meal out as I eat it, I am able to stick to the plan better. And whenever I want to snack, I have either an apple, banana, or steamed broccoli. Night time is my eating time, so I always make sure I have points left over for WW oatmeal and chocolate chip cookies...only 1 point each. And I drink tea. It fills me up.
I am sorry this was so long, but I hope it helped. Good Luck and don't be so hard on yourself. You have already made the first step.

Re: Please help me!!
Thanks so much for the encouragement and all the advice..
Since posting this Monday morning, I completly cut out all junk this week and when I got on the scale this morning was back at my usual 168..
I set up biggest loser at work and currently have 11 people in- we had our 1st weigh in today...Im hoping this will help me stay motivated.
My ideal goal would be to be back at the 145 I was prior to getting preggo, but I would be satisfied at 150-155.
Im thinking of actually joining weight watchers; someone from work goes to the meeting every Monday and has offered to even come pick me up-therefore pushing me to go..
Ive been trying to walk night with DS- we've been doing about 1-2 miles a night.. And I try to do tae bo- I think I squeezed it in once this week.
I go to bed very early(Im in bed by 7 asleep by 8/8:30 most nights) so I do pretty well by not eating past 7.
I really hope I stick with it!!!

It sounds like you are well on your way!!!
We just finished Biggest Loser at my job and while I didn't win, I came darn close. I lost 20.5 lbs in 10 weeks. You can do it!!!!

Re: Please help me!!
Oh my goodness good for you for taking such great initiative!!!
I would seriously considering joinging ww and going to the weekly meetings with your co-worker. I can't even tell you how MUCH of a difference going with friends can be. They will bring you up when you are feeling down and motivate you to keep going and you will do the same for them.
Good luck!!!

It's funny b/c I started at your exact current weight. The competition was really kicked me into high gear from the get-go. It took a lot of commitment on my part b/c I work FT & I have an 18-month-old. My DH works at night. So I would eat dinner with DD at 5:30, do all of our night routine, play with her etc., get her to bed by 7:30 and be working out by 8:00. It was a long day but I made it priority.
Here's what I did:
I went from working out 2x a week to 5-7x a week. 3x a week I was walking at lunch for 1-2 miles but then I would really workout at night (even on the days I had that little walk). I was doing Tony Horton's Beach body 3x a week and I started running 2x a week. I started out doing intervals of walking & running b/c I was really out of shape. I would walk 2 minutes then jog 2 minutes. I started with 40 minutes. On the other day or 2, I would walk 3-4 miles.
People have really been talking about that 30 day shred program with Jillian Michaels. You might want to look into that. I know it's short.
I also drastically changed my diet. I started just cutting calories and lost about 10 lbs in 4 weeks. When I felt like that came to a standstill, I did South Beach. I pretty much lost the rest of my weight following the South Beach diet. It wasn't really hard for me. Cutting out carbs slimmed me down right away. It got me down to 147.5. I have since integrated some carbs again and now I weigh 150. They say you can expect to gain a little when you add carbs back into your diet so I am fine with it. I'd still love to lose 10 more pounds. I need to find some motivation again!!!!!!
If you have any questions, FM me. Let us know how you do!
ETA: It also helps that I have a home gym in the basement.

Basically one of the guys at work came up with the idea. He posted a notice in the lunchroom....if anyone is interested type of thing. He had 20 people who were interested. We each kicked in $25 so the winner's pot was $500. Then we had people who didn't want to lose weight but wanted to be "in" on it somehow. They each kicked in $10 and they were randomly given one of us to be our supporter. So whoever the Biggest Loser was won $500 and their supporter won $200. It went by percentage of weight lost, not pounds. We weighed in every Friday and we had one woman do all the weighing in and calculations. The percentage results were posted every Friday afternoon so we could all see the standings. It was great!
Actually about half-way through we decided that there should be a male and female winner. So we had 2 winners. I was the 2nd female by 3/4 of a pound. They pretty much split the pot and the same with the supporters.
Some people stopped weighing in mid-way but overall we lost 121 lbs total. 95 of those pounds were lost by the top 4 people total (I was #4). In the end it got really tight and we were all super serious. Each of the 4 of us lost 20-something lbs.
