I would go to the boys department honestly. Granted the cropped sweater you won't find, but you'll find the black t-shirt and in that size, its relatively the same fit. I know Walmarts Garanimals has a decent assortment of basic colors for boys.

The BBB in Westbury had a bunch of t-shirts on sale in all different colors... There was a huge rack of them by the registry area
