Please help me. Troy all of the sudden doesn't want to nap
and it's making me nutty!
Whenever it's naptime, I take him to his room and when I goto put him in the crib, he screams bloddy murder! If I leave him, he stands right up and continues to scream and cry. We drove DH to work, and Troy fell asleep, he'd been asleep about 20 min when I got back home. Brought him in, he stayed asleep until I put him in his crib--he stood up and has been screaming/crying since. That was 17 min ago.
I've been SO lucky and blessed that he has always been a good napper and sleeper, til now. I have NEVER experienced this with him before! I can't get a darn thing done when he doesn't nap!
Yesterday he woke up early (for him) at 6:30-I tried a few times to put him down for a nap, no success. I finally broke down and took him for a ride at 2:30! He slept for 1 hr (I parked at Starbucks while he napped), we then went home. He was fine-ate dinner then to bed fine and slept thru the night.
Needless to say, NOTHING got done in our house yesterday and todays not looking any better.
For those who did/do CIO, how long was the longest you let DC cry?
Just got him up, after 30 min--see my update below

Re: Please help me. Troy all of the sudden doesn't want to nap
Is he teething? Tyler has had a few of those days. he went from 3 short naps to 2 long naps and sometimes only 1 in the morning. It's frustrating the days he doesnt take that 2nd nap b/c that he is cranky and ready for bed by 6 and we have to try and keep him up b/c I dont want him waking up at 5 in the morning.
I have had to let Tyler CIO a few times but I do a modified version. I will go in every 20 min. or so and lay him back down, put his blanky on him and tell him it's time for a nap. Eventually he tires himself out.

Re: Please help me. Troy all of the sudden doesn't want to nap
At 8 mos old I let my DS CIO, but it was for bed time not naps. I went in first after 2 minutes, the next time was 4, then 6 etc (or if I couldn't stand it i'd go in sooner) key here is to keep eye contact and conversation to a minimum when you do go in, not so much the length of time. The first night took 40 minutes, the next 25 minutes and the third and final night was less than 5 minutes.

Re: Please help me. Troy all of the sudden doesn't want to nap
I broke down and went in after 30 min.
I did not want to wait that long, but I had to go downstairs and start a load of wash and go tot the bathroom. I had to get at least ONE thing done today.
Crissy-it's quite possibly teething related. I initially wanted to think it was from starting to transition to milk, yesterday's AM bottle I did 2 oz milk 4 oz formula. I did try to do 1 oz milk and 3 oz formula in his 2nd bottle, but he refused it. He had no more milk aside from the 2 oz in the AM.
SO I just got him out of the crib, he was doing the Just-Stopped-Hysterically-Crying deep wimper breathing for a few min. THen I sat in the rocker and he was asking for a book. I tried to give him a bottle (all formula) and he only took 1 oz and pushed it away (PS he has not eaten since 9:30am)
We're chillin in the livingroom, but I am getting "screamed" at by Troy, b/c he does not have my FULL attention

Re: Please help me. Troy all of the sudden doesn't want to nap
sounds like you are going through the same thing as we are right now... yesterday it took me hour and a half to put ds for a nap... all that time for 1 hour nap our mistake was to rock him to sleep, or put him to sleep in his bouncer or high chair, he never fell asleep for naps on his own... so now I am trying to break that habit... he falls asleep at night just fine although he does wake up sometimes at night and screams until I come and rock him back to sleep... ugh, sorry I am no help

Re: Please help me. Troy all of the sudden doesn't want to nap
I wish I had some advice, we are going through the same thing. DS used to always nap right after a bottle, and he almost always fell asleep in my arms. Now, I am trying to get him to fall asleep in his crib and it is so hard. He just cries and cries and I am trying to let him CIO but I think I need to find another way because after over an hour we have no improvement.

Re: Please help me. Troy all of the sudden doesn't want to nap
i know he didn't drink much milk but since he is rejecting formula maybe his belly hurts from the little he drank.
do you rock him?
i have done cio but haven't in forever. i gave up after he learned to stand up b/c he'd just stand up forever (once he stood, not crying, for 1 1/2 hours.) so now josh gets rocked to sleep for naps and i just put him in his crib awake after i nurse him at night and he falls asleep pretty fast.
hopefully tom. wil be better!
