Please help, need advice or home remedies for a severe cough
My son has been coughing very badly for several weeks. Sometimes it's broken up, sometimes it's dry, but it is always awful and won't go away. We have been to the doctor twice. Both times they just said it was caused by his constant cold and runny nose, and there was no meds for it. They checked his chest and it was clear.
But I can't believe it is normal to be suffering so long. Could it be allergies? Could it be something else? Anyone have any advice on how I can help him? Thanks so much.

all of the above. Plus, at 18 months I believe you can give a little warm honey.

You can also try "cupping".
Lay DC on your lap on his stomach, so you see the back.
Being careful (stay in the upper back area between the shoulder blades), cup your hand and "tap" DC's back. The tapping/cupping will help losing up the mucus of the lungs. You can even raise 1 knee up so the head is a bit lower than the rest of the body.

NO HONEY unless DC is over 1 !!
IMO the steam shower helps the most.
Sadly it is a waiting game. My DS has been coughing terribly since sat
