Please help, please!

We moved into my mil house 2 months ago with our 2 cats that we have had for over 3 years, never peed on anything. After being here for 2 months all of a sudden they started peeing on our bed! Peeing on a bed is never great but it's a horrible time to be dealing with this. The one cat peed on our bed 7 times this weekend, once with our son in it. We took her to the vet as soon as we could get her in and she may have an infection the vet said and gave us meds. Today I walk in our room and our other cat is peeing on our bed and it went through to the mattress this time. Dh is fed up because we are really stressed right now and have done everything for these cats and it's not getting better. The one who may have the uti jumps on all our furniture. She scratched up our bedroom set that's a family heirloom set. It's beyond repair. She won't stop jumping on the stove and counters either. There is hair all over. She ruined our 1 yr old couch. No amount of tape, foil, yelling and spray bottle stopped her scratching, it's destroyed. They have a few scratching posts. She also has a medical issue where she leaks a few drops of pee when she sits. Multiple vet visits and after many tests we were told to go with urinary food and a water fountain and to change the box a lot. Nothing worked.
Our other cat...eats so fast he pukes up on the area rugs...he literally starts to gag and goes to the rug to puke which is so hard to clean. Totally destroyed my 8x10 jute rug. We also can't keep any doors shut because he claws at them until you open them. There is a lot of wood and molding destroyed in our home. He has done this forever we have tried everything.

Dh has been more than understanding all these years with everything but now they are peeing on our bed...next to our son. He has has enough and my mil doesn't want her stuff peed on and home destroyed which I totally understand but what is my next step then? What do I do?

Re: Please help, please!

Just wanted to add that I know It sounds like I hate my cats lol but I don't I'm just very frustrated right now. They were both rescued from the street and are very well taken care of. We didn't dump them when I found out I was pregnant we are on baby number 2 and they are just great with the kids, no scratching or biting or whatnot and sometimes my 2 yr old is roUgh but they still snuggle with him and are understanding.
I'm really at a loss as is dh. Dh is super close to the male cat and it's making him upset that this is happening, he doesn't want our cats peeing on our stuff and doesn't want my mil things to get ruined.

The only thing I could think of as to why they would do this is maybe because sil had a cat when she lived here that she brought home form her work at a vets office bc he peed all over so the owners were going to put him down. Sil rescued him but he peed all over my mil house for years until mil had enough and told her he needed to go. He went to a rescue place for cats..not a shelter. The couch still smells after being cleaned. Maybe my cats are smelling that and getting mad but why would they wait 2 months to start peeing and why on my bed?

When you say you moved into your MIL's house do you mean you moved in to the whole house or you are living in an apartment?

I have a pretty good guess at what is going on...territory. They are trying to claim it. While dogs are usually pretty good with moves, many breeds of cats are not. They do not take to change well. They like routine. They need time to acclimate. They need time to mark their turf. As far as the bed goes, if your one cat peed your other cat may think she was claiming the bed and peed to try to lay claim to it too.

Take note of how your cat is scratching the furniture. Purchase something appropriate to scratch on that is the same type (such as upright or horizontal) and put it smack dab right in front of whatever is being scratched. It sounds like three years of bad behavior that needs to be undone and it wont happen overnight. Be consistent be vigilant. Spray bottles help. But you need to do it every time you see it. Shake a can of coins. Take them off the counter over and over and over. Do they have kitty condos to lay in? Sounds like your cats like to be up high. Give them appropriate places to climb.

Puking...well...cats puke...and never on a nice tile surface either.Chat Icon There are bowls designed to slow down their food intake. Or ration the food. Only give a little at a time.

How much do you play with the cats? I have been watching that guitar cat dude show and it would appear that a lot of negative behavior (just like with dogs) has to do with how much exercise and play time they get (burn that negative energy out of them!). These are some ideas. I hope some of them helpChat Icon

Just wondering if theyre spayed and neutered? My males sprayed my couches and when I got them fixed they stopped.

I know this may sound a bit out there, but they do have cat diapers on the market.
