Please help...gonna pull my hair out soon !

DD is 5 weeks old, I am breastfeeding and would like to try to get her to take the bottle. I tried 3x already, she has problems with positioning her lips / sucking the bottle nipple, she gets sooo frustrated she screams and I wind up giving her the breast anyway !

I tried 3 different nipples.....help !

Has anyone else tried giving her the bottle?? My LC had told me that when I started giving the bottle to have dh do it, cuz they were used to the breast from me. What kind of nipples are you using?

I had the same problem with DD. I would keep trying with the same nipple. DD did the same to me, Beth gave me awesome advice and it worked. I would "Trick" her into thinking she was getting boob, going through all the motions and then stick the bottle in her mouth. It would only work with me. Once she started accepting the bottle more and more i would get out of sight and let others feed her.
DD would go nuts and scream sometimes and refuse it, i wouldn't fight her on it, i would give her the boob. It took me prob a month or so to get her to take it.
DD also refused the bottle alot more when there was BM in it. She was like hey if you are giving me BM i want it from the source!
I use Advent bottles

I am using othopedic slow flow nipple from Medela, they came with a milk storage kit I got, she takes that one the best. I also bought preemie ones cause they were even slower of a flow, but tiny.

ok, I will try DH to give her the bottle tonight, I need to get this done for when I go back to work and for when I just want to go out with or without her, If I have to run to the store and she wakes up, or if we go to a function and I feel funny breast feeding there, I would like to give her a bottle.

put a little sugar/sugar water on the bottle nipple. Just a little won't hurt, and she will like the sweet flavor, after she gets used to a different nipple stop with the sugar/sugar water.

Try a bottle with a shorter nipple, I think Playtex make one with quite a stubby nipple. A hundred dollars says that your nips aren't quite as long as the ones that are made of latex!!

ok, I will try the playtex, I know exactly what you are talking about. The orthopedic ones aren't as long as the normal ones. But I will try ANYTHING !!

I can't even leave the house to get a hair cut right now!
