Please please help...this baby needs to nap....

...and so does her Mommy. It's been almost 4 weeks with 2 naps....I can't do this anymore. The day is TOO long and she is cranky. She wants to nap on me for an hour and it's not possible because of my back problems. Then in the afternoon, she will take a 20 minutes nap in the stroller or in the car, which I am fine with. But she used to be such a great napper!

Isn't this too young to be giving this up?

I know she's teething so I gave her some Tylenol. She's dry. She's fed. I know she would rather be cruising around now that she is crawling. But something has got to give. Chat Icon

Can anyone help? I don't think I am doing this CIO thing right.....

DS was a great napper and a great sleeper but ever since he cut his top four teeth, his schedule has been set off...he would wake up in the middle of the night crying, not being able to nap, etc. But now that the teeth have come in, he is slowly starting to fall back into his routine. So there is hope! You just have to stick it out and let this phase pass, but try to stick to your routine as much as possible...Chat Icon Chat Icon

Nothing special....just letting her cry for a few minutes, then going in and reassuring her, then leaving again, etc. I do this maybe twice and can't stand that she gets even more upset each time. So I take her out and she calms down and that's the end of the nap!

have you tried just not going in at all? I found that going in always made things worse... The first day or 2 of not going in will be hard then usually by the 3rd day I find they get it. I hope she starts napping for you!

DD was like this a few weeks ago.. then i took her to peds and it turned out she had the beginning of an ear infection b/c of teething. They gave me some antibiotics and in a week she was napping.

How is she sleeping at night?

Re: Please please help...this baby needs to nap....

I still have to lay down with Josh to get him to nap...

or I bring him to the pool, change him into his nightshirt before getting in the car, then he is out and I transfer him to bed.

my advice would be getting a baby pool for you yard...something about the water knocks my kid out.

I tried..she just thinks it's play time and then gets frustrated when I want her to lay down.

She is sleeping 10 hours at night too.

Thanks for your help everyone. I'm trying it again right now so Chat Icon something works. She looks exhausted, dark circles under her eyes and is just so cranky.

Re: Please please help...this baby needs to nap....

How long from the time she wakes up in the am are you putting her down for her 1st nap? Then when she wakes up from her 1st nap how long in between to the next one?

Babies her age can sleep 11-16 hours a day i read and that includes night sleep.

It sounds like she's way overtired to nap and then it gets worse as the day goes on.

She's trying to get used to her new environment too, it took a good month or two for my girls to transition to the move, so maybe it's that toooChat Icon Chat Icon
So sorry dana, hope it gets better for youChat Icon

She wakes up about 6:30 and then I try to put her down about 10:30. Anything before that is useless. Her main nap was always once a day at that time. The afternoon, 4pm nap, is just 20 minutes usually on me or in the car if we're out. She is extra cranky today but normally if I were to take her out of the crib now, she would just go about her business and play and read her books and crawl around. Today I am pretty sure her teeth are really bothering her. Chat Icon Thanks M, I hope you're right about the transitioning. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
