Please read if you have a PVC fence with a "removable" section
We're shopping around for a new PVC fence, and our current wooden fence has a double gate at the end of the driveway that leads into the back yard. We don't use it that often, but we occasionally need to get trucks into the back, so the gate comes in handy. While pricing out new fences, one company told us we could go with a "removable section" that is supposed to have hinges like a gate that we can just lift and open, and according to the owner of the company who quoted us, it won't be difficult. But then we went to another company who said there is no such thing as a removable section that's easy, and that it's a pain to actually remove. He suggested we just go with another regular section, and said we could actually unscrew and remove the section if we ever needed to. So basically, my question is, does anyone actually have a "removable section" and if so, can you tell me how difficult it is to remove, and if you felt it was worth the extra money? Thanks!!!

Re: Please read if you have a PVC fence with a "removable" section
we just had our fence installed last week with a removeable section. We were told the same thing about the easy of it - but we haven't actually tried it yet. I'll ask my DH when he gets home later to try it!

For us it was well worth the extra money. We've removed it several times already for deliveries in our yard where the truck backs up right in the yard. The section is easy to remove. I believe my DH has done it himself.

from how it was described to us, it is supposed to look the same as the rest of the fence. The only difference would be hinges that would allow us to open it.
It's just the way that it was described to us that was confusing, and then when the other fence company said there is no such thing, it made us hesitant to go with the first company.
If we do decide to go with the removable section we're going to ask if the company has any pictures or samples of it, or if they can at least put a description of how it works in writing for us so we can have some proof of what we were expecting before the fence actually gets installed.

does the removable piece look the same as the rest? . Exactly the same-you have to really examine it to see it's removable. All it is is a PVC section with the gate hooks on either side(in the same color as the fence). This is a very common thing to do and I don't understand why the 2nd company wouldn't know what it was?? We used Roberts Fence and 6 yrs later our PVC fencing around our whole property looks as good as the day it was installed.
