It's not Merrick, but......In Massapequa, Good Old Gold is buying gold at $14 (penny weight).

Market price is $925/oz. but the store actually pays less -- I got $900/oz at the jeweler I went to on Sunrise (also Massapequa) yesterday.

OMG. I am so confused. I guess I just have to trust that they are giving me the best deal and sell it to them.
I have no idea how much my stuff weighs etc. Something better then nothing I guess

well if it weighs about 25 pennyweight then it would be about an ounce. If you know that gold is selling for $925 an ounce then you can determine if it's a good offer.

I went there as well. Two weeks ago (I think) I got $15. It ended up being a pretty penny for a bunch of scrap old stuff that was just taking up space in my jewelry box.

Also they are only paying for the gold - not the other metals in the jewelry. So you get more $$ for 18K (which most of mine was) than for 14K, which has more metals in it... It's not based on how much your jewelry weighs.

Ahh. So I guess they won't care that most of my stuff has diamonds in it.

No. They actually removed the diamonds from pieces other people bought in. They don't want them.
18k is worth more and 24k is worth even more. I think when I was there 18k was $20/oz and 24k was $25/oz.
