Please recommend summer beach family vacations
DH and I are both teachers and have the summer off. I'm 4 months preggo and we have a 2.5 year old DD.
Where can we go?
We are thinking about Hilton Head, SC and Cape May, NJ. Anyone have info on either of these places, or can recommend others?
We like the beach, but also some sort of cultural activities to do as well.
Any recommendations? Specific places you've stayed at and recommend or don't recommend would be greatly appreciated.

We have been going to Hilton Head for the past few years and love it! It's very family friendly; the beach is great there's a children's museum and a farm with a petting zoo and pony rides. Lots of shopping, good restaurants, and live entertainment in many of the shopping centers. My DD is 2.5 also and she loves it there.

Long Beach Island NJ. I grew up spending my summers there. Such a great beach area and there is plenty to do.

We are going to Ogonquit, ME in August with DS who will be 15 months. We are staying at the Beachmere Inn.

Where do you stay? We would love a 1 or 2 bedroom condo for a week. We don't need anything bigger as its just the 3 of us, and it seems like there are huge homes there.

And do you drive or fly? We are thinking of driving, but are a little scared - we never went on that long of a drive with her.

In the beginning we stayed at motels and rented. There are smaller houses or condos. We always stayed in Beach Haven

We stay in Palmetto Dunes at my parents timeshare and we drive. On the way down we drive about 10 hours to NC and stay overnight then drive the rest of the way the next day. On the way back we drive straight through and it's not terrible, but not a great end to the vaca either!

I second ME. Last year we stayed in Kennebunkport and had the most marvelous time! If you are looking for a rental recommendation in the area FM me. The place was new, clean and had everything.

We may check out Williamsburg/VA Beach. I personally like places that have a lot of things to do with the kids. Just a beach isn't enough for us.

Myrtle Beach, SC they have tons to do down there. I have been going there for years and my cousins moved there a few years ago. It great and definitely family friendly!
