Please recommend your High Risk OB

Hi, I am newly preg - 4 weeks and was looking for a High Risk OB due to my advanced age- I am 37 will be 38 when I deliver. I would prefer an OB who delivers at Stony Brook.
Thanks so much!!

Re: Please recommend your High Risk OB

Hi, welcome! I couldn't help responding even though I am not much help. I am the same age as you and I'm about 6.5 weeks pregnant. Do you specifically needed a high risk ob for a reason other than age? I am going to my current ob who delivered my ds but was going to check out SB Midwives, that is if they'll take me at my advanced maternal age. I have no clue. I think they have information sessions once a month at stony brook. You can fm if you want info about my current ob but I was considering switching myself. Congratulations and good luck!

I had a friend who was 40 when she delivered and not considered high risk. I don't think your age automatically makes you high risk.

Have you been advised to see a high risk? I'm over 40 and have been told that I am not considered high risk but I have no health issues and at 9+ weeks this is a normal pregnancy so far.Chat Icon

Thank you all so much for the info- I am going to call my regular OB and see what she thinks-I really assumed age was the deciding factor - so much to learn!! I look forward to getting to know everyone on these boards!

My sister had het surprise baby (my niece) at 41, had gestational diabetes and stomach issues and was not high risk. Definitely consult your regular ob.

I'm 37 and this is my third. I go to my regular OB for regular check ups, but I have been having my tests done at a high risk office (perinatal at winthrop).
