Please recommend your pediatrician

I am due June 29 but my Dr. told me to start looking for a pediatrician already.

Could you recommend a pediatrician for the following towns?

Hicksville
Bethpage
Levittown
Westbury
Garden City (but a little far!)

I'm a planner by nature... but why is your doc telling you to look so EARLY?!!? Our original due date was Feb 3, and we didn't interview anyone until early December (2 months in advance) and even that seemed early!! Other parents we saw at the consults were farther along than I was.

I guess I am a planner indeed.

She just told us to start looking. Since my insurance is changing for 2007, I thought I would get a head start so I can verify with my insurance.

Also, most women in my family have a problem making it to term and have babies early so I also would like to make sure I have a pediatrician selected if I have to go to the hospital early. Hopefully not!!

What is the process of interviewing pediatricians? I am due April 2nd, so I guess I have a little time but what questions should we ask, etc? I never even thought of interviewing pediatricians.

I guess you would want to see the office, how clean it is but most importantly I would like to see how I interact with the dr.

I don't plan on asking them if it's easy to get an appt. They will probably say yes.

You could also ask their office hours (late night, weekends, etc..)
