please recomment an infant carseat and/or stroller
Hi everyone!! VERY soon I will be joining you, can't wait! I just had my shower and didn't get the travel system that I registered for :O( i had registed for the chicco keyfit. SO, now that we didn't get it, I am starting to rethink all of this (there were ALOT of big ticket items that we didn't get unfortunatly, so I'll be buying LOTS of stuff). So my question is: which is the most cost effective way to go? travel system, or infant carrier/snap and go, and seperate stroller, and, which do you ladies recommend? I am looking at target, and walmart, Babies r us, and i'm confused!! thanks in advance!!! -GIna

If I were you I'd just get an infant seat and a snap and go to start off with. You'll use these mostly in the beginning giving you lots of time to find a stroller that you'll like and that fits your budget. Personally, I never wanted a travel system, they are bulky and heavy. JMO. Don't stress it, you'll figure out what you need, for now just focus on what you'll need in the beginning.
ETA: I had the peg perego infant seat and a snap n go, and later bouht the peg perego switch stroller (the infant seat fits perfect on the stroller base so if you buy this stroller you don't need a separate snap n go). I bought it at BBB (back then you could still use the BRU 20% coupon on them). It's a great stroller and lets baby be either forward or rear facing.

I would definately get the snap and go - it is the easiest way to transport the baby around in the earlier months and then I would get a separate light weight stroller for one the baby is a little bigger.
We have the maclaren and have been very happy with it.

Just get a snap and go for now. So light and easy to use!

Re: please recomment an infant carseat and/or stroller
I agree with the previous posters. Just get the snap 'n go to start and then you can get a regular stroller when the baby is a little older.
We used the snap 'n go probably 90% of the time the first 6 months or so. Now we have the Chicco Liteway and love it!
ETA: to answer your question, we had the Chicco KeyFit30 infant car seat. We got it because it was rated as one of the safest car seats and had a high weight limit so we knew we'd be able to use it for a while. It was very easy to install and use but it is heavier than some of the other carseats (especially when baby gets a little heavier). I was happy with it though. Would get it again.

thanks girls! so which infant seat would you recommend? I see some graco's that are cheaper than others, and are wondering why? and then there are the safety first ones, etc what is the difference with all of these?

I agree with this. We also got a small stroller that reclined - Chicco Capri - though it only reclined part way so we eventually bought one that went further down so DS can sleep better if we are out and about (Chicco Liteway.)
I don't think we could have fit a full size system in our car if we had to put anything else in there too.

I have the graco snugride. We were happy with it, and will be using it again for this baby.

This is what I would go with also. I have the Snugride 32 but it's too heavy IMO.

Chicco Keyfit 30. My son is 9 months old and still fits in this carseat. I would suggest the Snap-n-go and a light weight stroller. We have a Maclaren Quest & love it.
