Please talk to me about recircumcision POST-OP (especially Dr. Palmer patients)
DS will be 11 months old next Wednesday. Provided he is cleared for surgery, he'll be having his circumcision redone due to there being a few skin bridges, some extra skin and an adhesion. I know the pre-op stuff (no food 8 hours before, no formula 6 hours before and nothing for 2.5 hours before) but know NOTHING about what to expect post-op.
Someone told me I have to double diaper him for a few days? (cut a hole in his diaper and then put the next size up on over that so if he poops it doesn't touch?)
I just want to be a little prepared for what to expect. I am nervous enough about the anesthesia and the pain he might experience afterwards. Unfortunatly this isn't for cosmetic purposes, there are medical reasons he has to have it according to Dr. Palmer.
TIA

DS was 18 months when Dr. Palmer did his recircumsion...and post op was not bad at all.
Woke up a bit crabby after the surgery but within a few hours was his old self, playing and eating and drinking as normal. He complained of a bit of pain a few hours after the anesthesia wore off, but we gave him some pain killer only once and he never complained of pain again. We did not have to double diaper at all...just had to put bacitracin on everytime we changed him and keep the area clean.
Dr. Palmer was great...we had a very good experience.

After DS's surgery with Dr. P, he was a little crabby when he woke up, fell asleep on the car ride home and was pretty much back to normal that night. Maybe a little less enthusiastic. You could tell it hurt him for a few days but nothing awful. It stays wrapped for a few days and just had to put bacitracin on it, never had to double diaper though. I think we maybe gave him tylenol once afterwards.
