Re: please tell me about EI at the pre-school level
Not sure what your asking....but the term Early Intervention is from birth to age 3....and this is probably why he doesn't qualify anymore.

Re: please tell me about EI at the pre-school level
After age 3 you have to contact your local school district to have him evaluated.

Re: please tell me about EI at the pre-school level
EI continues on from age 3-5 (pre-school level) as a different name I wanted to know how different is it from what he was in, stuff like that.
I already contacted my school district... Just wanted some insight

Re: please tell me about EI at the pre-school level
DS just had his 6 month evaluation and he no longer qualifies which is great, but at the same time I am nervous he may still need more help although he scored so well on his evaluations.
He turns 3 in April so I will wait until than (or maybe the summer) to have him re-evaluated by the school district. If he is evaluated and doesnt qualify, you have to wait 6 months before he can be reevaluated.

Re: please tell me about EI at the pre-school level
Once a child is 3 it is no longer "early intervention"- from 3 to 5 is preschool special education. EI is run directly through the county (I believe) while preschool special ed goes through the school district. When transitioning from EI to preschool services, there is a Committee on Preschool Special Ed (CPSE) meeting, where services and programs are discussed and an IEP is developed. The IEP is the special education version of the IFSP
ETA: not sure what level of service your son had through EI, but if you have concerns, the first step is to request an eval from your district. this might help: link

Like the others posted, contact your school district for an evaluation.

Re: please tell me about special education in ny state for children ages 3-21
DS is 2.5. He will be 3 in June.
I am not sure it's the same in all school districts but in mine, I had to register DS to the school district first. Then I had to contact the CPSE person to do his evaluations. They will be doing their evaluations soon. They told me they "may" use some of his EI evaluations. Then they will tell me what they will approve him for. Then I can "fight" it if I don't approve. They told me it takes 30 school days to have it all done. They have a time frame limit to do it.
