You did the right thing. When does your new year for sick days start (i.e. ours expire Dec. 31, we get 10 new ones that will be usable from Jan-Dec 08).
Stay home and take it easy. No reason to risk getting kids sick and making yourself worse!

One day of antibiotics won't do anything. You need to run through the entire cycle to be effective, if you need them.
For the sake of the kids' health, you did the right thing.

How is it treated?
Strep throat will go away in 3 to 7 days with or without treatment. Doctors usually treat strep throat with antibiotics even though they may not make you well faster. Antibiotics shorten the time you are able to spread the disease to others (are contagious) and lower the risk of spreading the infection to other parts of your body. You are contagious while you still have symptoms. Most people stop being contagious 24 to 48 hours after they start antibiotics. If you don’t take antibiotics, you may be contagious for 2 to 3 weeks, even if your symptoms go away.

I wanted the one day of antibiotics so that at least I woruldb't be contagious when/if I go in to work tomorrow. If the test came back +,for strep, then I would just pick up the rest of the 10 day supply.
Thanks for the link- at least I feel better knowing I am doing the right thing (although it KILLS me to miss work).
