PLEASE Tell Me That When Your Child Does Something "NEW" that Disrupts Their Sleep They QUICKLY Get Over The Obsession...PLEASE, EXPERIENCED MOMS READ...
Hi Ladies,
I need your knowledge PLEASE! My DD who is 14MOS is just now taking off in all areas, beginning to crawl, pull up, etc (she was a late one Anyway, she was never even a roller as an infant.
Today during her AM nap she was laying on her belly as she always does and rolled over and sat up in her crib for the FIRST TIME---of course I cried out of excitement but then she ventured down to her Fisher Price Aquariam Toy that she loves and played with it FOREVER, on--off, on--off, etc. Everytime I'd go back in to lie her down she'd roll over again and sit back up in total excitement that she can do something "new". Well then on to the the PM naptime--she spent the whole hour until I finally took her out rolling over and sitting up and wouldn't sleep a wink.
What is in store for me tonight? Will she quickly get sick of seeing she can do this and stay down and go to sleep EVER? I am worried, she normally sleeps a 12 hour night and now with this
Thanks for the advice:)

i don't have advice as my DD never seemed to experience this but i will guess that even if you have a few bad naps/nights that it will certainly be temporary once she gets used to it. maybe a week or so at the longest?

DD is 10.5 months and on her 10 month bday learned to pull up in her crib. It lasted about a week and she was back to normal.

DS did that with his FP rainforest soother. After about a week he would just put it on when he went in and that was it, he would fall asleep listening to it. I actually took it out of the crib because the batteries died and I was going to replace them but didn't have any so it's been out ever since! The less distractions the better

Katie went through this same exact thing too and it did pass.
But then she went through this again once she was able to pull herself up in the crib!
But it will pass. I used to go in there and lay her back down (bc sometimes it would wake her up) but then she got smart and realized that if she kept sitting up , i would keep going in so I stopped.
Oh - and once she was able to really move around in the crib, I ended up taking the aqaurium out b/c she would stay awake playing with it.
I guess I am a mean mommy, I dont give her any toys for the crib!

Does she cry? If she doesn't cry I would not even go in there...she may fall asleep eventually-I know for afternoon naps you can't really do that but def fo rthe morning nap

Each time DS hit a big milestone (right before and shortly after) his sleep was disrupted. First was crawling at 7 months, then walking a little before a year, now talking at 2 years.
The first two times it didn't last long--maybe 3 weeks tops. The last phase has been going on for over a month now, but he keeps adding words each day, plus some of it includes new fears of the dark, etc.
I've found CIO really doesn't work for DS when he hits these milestones. He cries pittifully in his room and verges on hysterical for quite some time if no one comes for him. So we sit in his room until he goes to sleep (he is in his crib, we just sit and don't interact with him and that seems to help).

Hi,
She doesn't know how to lay back herself so twice now she was falling asleep sitting up and it was so sad for me to see this. What a terrible weekend of sleep I had:)
