Please tell me what I am doing wrong!!!
So I have been eating right and exercising and I am GAINING weight!!!
I have officially gained weight AFTER the holidays
I go to the gym 3x a week for about 1-1.5 hours. I do a cardio sculpt class and the stationary bike.
This is what I ate yesterday:
Breakfast: Arnolds bread thins with a smear of peanut butter. Fat free milk.
Snack: trail mix Lunch: Black Bean veggie burger w/ 2% cheese, bowl of grapes
Dinner: Homemade Pasta Fagioli soup (lots of beans, veggies, greens)
Snack: Half a grapefruit and then DH made some popcorn.
Well today I am another pound heavier!!!
I really do not know what to do - I also have my period (TMI) so I am hoping that could have something to do with it.
Please help - I am very upset abput this!!

since you said you are premenstrual...that is probably the cause - it does seem like you have a lot of salt intake, so that doesn't help the water retention.
keep up the great lifestyle. you might want to add a bit more cardio. I just read an article that you should pair the stationary bike with the rowing machine to get cardio benefits of running.

Could be your period.
Also it could be that it will take a cple weeks to kick in. Not sure how much you have to lose but sometimes if it isnt a lot of weight it takes longer to show up--also weights could add muscle

I think you may need more protein...are you a vegetarian?
Right now I am at a standstilltoo and considering adding more protein and less carb bc I do best on that diet. But as a vegetarian this may be hard to do.

you really should only weight yourself once a week in the morning before you eat anything, but after you use the bathroom. weight fluctuates so much during the week due to water, what you ate, etc. you can't really get accurate weights on a day to day basis.
also, your period probably has a lot to do with it. i've actually gained 5lbs in water right before my period then it came right off again. try weighing again after AF is gone.

Thanks all for the great advice
It is just so discouraging!!
Hopefully it is just AF. But I will try eating less carbs and more protein (I am not a vegetarian but I really do not enjoy meat all that much).
I know it is really bad to weigh yourself daily (or in my case 2x a day!! - morning and night!!) - I know its terrible but I am a little compulsive like that!
I tried to cut out all snacks today and see where that takes me.
The irony is that on the days that I eat really badly (lots of fatty food) I end up losing weight!! Go figure

Yeah I think the same thing happens to me. How long have you been working out? Sometimes when I eat bad (like over the holidays or on vacation) it takes me a few weeks to get back. Like I used to spring back so fast but now not really. So if I gain 5 lbs in the month of december, it is going to take like 2 months to get it off!
I am totally anal too and way myself alot. I know you arent supposed to but I do it 2x a day and I feel it helps keep me on track. Just dont expect to lose a lb a day or anything, it is a slow process.
And if you are new to the gym, it could be your body adjusting, a lot of people gain first!
