Pls. help daycare transition advice needed...
My dd will be 3 in September, has been in the same daycare since 10 mos. old.
They are now transitioning her to the preschool room. Whenever she has transitioned before, it was the whole class, right now there is only 1 spot open and they choose her to move (the rest of the class will be going in Sept.)
Anyway, they are starting transition a few hours a day 3 days a week and they said she is crying alot in the beginning and then is ok the rest of the time.
She talked about it alot this weekend that she doesn't like it, and would actually start crying. This morning she didn't want to go to school at all and NEVER says that or cry.
It broke my heart to leave her there crying.
My question is should I let them keep sending her for a few hours and let her CIO for 15 min. or tell them that I feel we should wait another month or so?
this hurts me alot.....added with mommy guilt.

Is there a reason why they decided to move her at this point? If you dont see any benefit to her being in the preschool room right now I would tell them to wait and mover her with the rest of her class. Why put her through this she is not even 3yo.

I agree-if it is causing her this much stress, I would ask that they hold off moving her until the rest of the class goes.
I'm thinking that they are doing it because there is a spot in the new class and by moving someone up now they can free up a spot in her current class for someone on a waiting list.
However, the needs of your kid come first. Maybe another child can handle the transition better, but in any case if your DD is suffering, I would hold off.

it really isn't because they need the spot, there is plenty of room in the toddler room.. I am going to see how today goes and then speak to the director. I know if she kept to it - a few hours a day, she would be fine, but like you said , I do not want to cause her stress
