Re: Pls recommend a vacumn...
we got a bissel vaccum 2 years ago for our wedding.... its a 2-in-1 bagless. so its an upright vaccum, or part of it comes off and it can be a canister vac ( good if you have more than one floor in your house). it does a good job picking up all the dog hair, and its easy to empty- you just pop the container out and empty it into the trash can. it wasn't too expensive, i think it was less than $200.

Re: Pls recommend a vacumn...
WE got a Miele canister (I think that is what you call it when its not an upright) vacuum for our wedding three years ago and I think it is great. This vacuum has been through everything and it is still as powerful as it was from day one. However, now that I live in a house with multiple levels bringing it up and down two sets of stairs is annoying, I would get an upright next time but still stick with the Miele brand!!

Consumer Reports ratings.
#1 Rated is Kenmore (Sears) Progressive with Direct Drive 35922, but $300
#5 is the Eureka Boss Smart Vac Ultra 4870 for $150
#9 is the Hoover Tempo Widepath U5140-900 for $60
All of these are Consumer Best Buy labelled.
(BTW, the highest rated Dyson is #11 on this list, and $550 )

Re: Pls recommend a vacumn...
Forget what Consumer Reports has to say about any vacuum. I hate they way they test those vacuums. Nobody vacuums up pet hair like they do in their test. They spread a large pile of dog hair about 3 inches high and see if the vacuum can vacuum it up.

We have the Eureka Boss Smart Vac Ultra 4870 as recommended by consumer reports. Is it the best vacuum ever - no. Does it work well so far and can I say it was worth the money - 100% YES.

Us three!
My mom has always had Electrolux vacuums and has always been happy with them. The new ones are so nice and light, it's great if you have stairs.

Another Kenmore Progressive Vacuum owner here. I have cats and I vacuum up hair and litter that spills on the floor all the time. I would always opt for a canister. I think they have the best suction and longevity. I had my other Kenmore for 15 years and 3 homes!

I have a Dyson Animal. I loved it when I bought it. Now I am ready to toss it out the window! 2 years later it does not pick up anything
