How old is your DC? When Jack was under six weeks we read the Happiest Baby on the Block and that worked for us then.
once he got older we loved Healthy Sleep Habits.
Of course - my kid has been screaming for almost two hours - so maybe it's time I purchase a new sleeping book!

How to Solve Your Child's Sleep Problems by Ferber was the best and most useful book I read.

Not necessarily. That's part of it, but it's worth reading his book becuase he really emphasizes a good bedtime routine, and gives great advice on sleep associations. I would imagine that if I had read his book sooner, I never would have had to let Ava CIO because the whole reason she was waking in the middle of the night and crying was because her sleep accomodations were different when she woke, and she couldn't adjust. Once I read the book, I changed her sleeping conditions so that they were consistent from the time I put her down until morning and the problem went away.

Yes, but unlike some books he uses a progressive system. I highly recommend this book.

I liked the Happiest Baby on the Block.
For what it's worth, The Baby Whisperer was awful and no help whatsoever!

i read all of them too- after almost 7 months of waking up in the middle of the nite to nurse her, mommy was tired and needed her sleep. luckily, i read all these books when she was about 5 months, so i was able to take bits and pieces from every book and apply them, and by 7 months, she was sleeping thru the nite....
i agree with the ferber book- MOST useful....i think the other books just tend to make u use methods that really "tease" the child (moving the cair slowly out of the room and stuff...) that just didnt interest me....ferber also gave me helpful tips on WHY hannah was waking up (she was used to sucking from mommy- getting 3 minutes of walk milk and that was it)...so i was able to study her sucking habits, and eventually she weaned from the breast to nothing, and she just woke up and i would hold her....which was a HUGE accomplishment if u are a nursing mommy (or just making a bottle in the middle of the nite)....after that, smooth sailing....and my child sleep amazingly...
thanks ferber....
