Plumbing question - party tomorrow and problem at our house.
If anyone is married to or is a plumber, could someone please help. I will call someone in the morning, but for now, just wondering what our problem might be. For a couple weeks now our upstairs toilet isn't flushing well. We all just took baths/showers and when I came downstairs I heard water dripping. Opened our basement door and saw a mini flood near our dry sink. It was overflowing onto the floor. Did some testing and realized when the toilets flush, the water comes up. I assume between the toilets and the shower, this is the problem. So what exactly is it? Could it be just a clog or are we looking at more of a cesspool problem? Having our sons 2nd bday tomorrow at our house. UGH! Any advice? Thanks.

Your cesspool is probably full and backing up into the house. Ours flows out of the house into the yard when this happens.
You can call to have the cesspool pumped out. We use AAA Cesspool and have been very happy with them.
ETA: We also had this happen when we had a clog. They came and snaked it out.
We HATE cesspools in this house

Hi, my hubby says there's a blockage/clog in the main line. (The lowest point in the house is getting a back up). Odds are its not the cesspool if there's no visable signs outside (puddling/mud/odor).
They'll probably snake the mainline & put a camera through.
Hubby wanted to know if you have roots close to where the mainline runs.
ETA....he's not a plumber, but pretty handy.

Thanks. Hubby is not home now and I have no idea where the main line runs? Guess I should now that huh? Hoping it is a minor problem. Should a call a plumber first and then go the cesspool route?

We've had the water backup at the lowest point in our house when the cesspools are full and needed pumping (and there was NO visible signs on the lawn over the pools to give any indication). We've had them pumped 2x in 10 years (they are original to the house and we know they will need to be replaced soon). It cost us about $400-$500 each time.

I would go with a cesspool company. If it's a clog they could snake it out or if it's full, they will pump it out.
