Pods VS Moving Truck
If anyone used either, please give me the pros and cons.
DH and I were discussing which one we were going to do. He was nervous about the POD sitting in the driveway with everything in it, but we really did not know if you load it and they pick it up the same day?
Thanks

Re: Pods VS Moving Truck
I used a POD because I sold my house but had to wait a couple months to move into next house, so it was just easier for us. You will load the truck, and have them pick up next day, because they can come at anytime, although mine was always picked up first thing in the AM. Then we stored it at their facility. I htink if I was moving from one house to the next same day, or next day...I would get a truck. I always used a truck for my moves in the past, and it worked out just fine. ALl depends on circumstances and timeline.
GOOD LUCK!

Re: Pods VS Moving Truck
I used upack.com for my cross-country move and they were EXCELLENT!
Basically, they drop off a trailer (largest is 28 feet), and it'll sit in front of your house for 3 business days (weekends aren't included; so if they drop it off on a Thursday, and then Monday is a holiday, you'll have the truck until Wednesday).
They were also alot less expensive than uhaul, penske, etc.
Good luck!

How did you like using them? The quotes are less than the moving trucks, we'd have to drive too.
Sound interesting because then we don't have to worry about drving a truck.

I loved them! Very prompt, courteous.. No hidden fees, nothing. you just load (make sure to reserve a loading ramp; it's free) and then you install the bulkhead (it's easy my DH said lol) and then you call them up and they come and get it.
Get a lock for it. That's what we did. We locked it up after we were done loading each night. But when they take the truck, you have to take the lock off, which if you think about it, it's okay, because whoever tries to open the trailer, will have to dissassemble the buikhead, so no worries =O)
you can also track your shipment online. My shipment got to it's destination in less time than I had anticipated. I was a nervous wreck at first because we hadn't planned on being there until a few days later, but the trailer will sit at their local facility until you schedule the delivery.
If you need more info, please let me know. You can get a free quote on www.upack.com
BTW, My entire shipment came in one piece, nothing was broken! =O) BTW, all

What is bulkhead? It really sounds like our best option because then we have the 2 cars we can drive down. Anything super fragile can go in the cars anyway. How muck quicker did it arrive?

This is what we didi too and we have been very happy with them so far. Mind you our stuff is still in storage with them because we are not moving for at least another month and a half!!
What we also didi is why hired a moving company to load the truck. It ends up being cheaper to do it this way.

Re: Pods VS Moving Truck
I had a one day move and the Pod prices were ridiculous. We went and rented a truck and drove it our darn selves.

A bulkhead is this board that goes up and then you connect these two rods across it.. it's pretty simple.. It's like a divider.
My stuff got there in 2 days!

Re: Pods VS Moving Truck
We used a POD and LOVED it. Loved packing everything ourselves and unpacking at our leisure. There was no "We gotta get the truck back by 5:30" We simply called when we were finished.. It was great!
