Points Counting Question!
I just read something interesting on Hungrygirl.com - a reader wrote in and asked about counting points - whether you count things separately or together?
For example - this girl said that when she made a sandwich, she is going to figure out the points for each ingredient separately - like bread is 2 points, cold cuts are three points - it's a 5 point sandwich. She said her friend added up all the ingredients - added fat, fiber, calories for all the ingredients combined - and then figured out the points for the sandwich that way!!
I always count points separately, the first way! Hungrygirl said that she thought that the second way was right!
What way do you do it?
Can anyone check with their leader on this?
Am I the only one doing it incorrectly?
Thanks!

Re: Points Counting Question!
Hmmm..I count each item separately. But just for kicks, I went onto Recipie Builder on the WW website and created a recipie for my turkey sandwich, it came up .5 points more than if I count it separately.

I count separately too. However, it is true that when you combine all the info together, you ge a different points count. I'm just too lazy to do that

Re: Points Counting Question!
I do it seperately also. When you count them together, are they less or more points?

Yep! Same here! I bet it usually ends up being more, but if ww is working for you no need to be so picky IMO.

Re: Points Counting Question!
it will end up being more usually. if you have two servings of something in one sitting... it usually adds more. For example if I have 3/4 cup of bran flakes it is 1 point, but if I have a cup and a half it is 3.5 points on ww on line... so I just type it in seperately...

Re: Points Counting Question!
i always count my points separately, except when having 2 servings of something. honestly, i think the point difference is pretty negligable so i wouldn't worry about it too much. the whole point of WW is portion control and making better choices when you eat.
