Remaining 3 ID'd as prostitutes in Gilgo bodies case
(01/24/11) YAPHANK - Police have identified the remains of three more women found near Gilgo Beach in December.

In a press conference this afternoon, police announced that the three women were missing prostitutes in their 20s who advertised on the Internet, including one woman from North Babylon.

Police say one of the four bodies was identified as Long Island native Amber Lynn Costello, 27, who had been last seen on Sept. 2. Police identified the other two bodies as Maureen Brainard-Barnes, 25, of Norwich, Conn., and Melissa Barthelemy, 24, of the Bronx.

Officials say Brainard-Barnes went missing in July of 2007. Barthelemy was last seen in July of 2009.

Police identified one of the victims last week as Megan Waterman, 22, a missing Maine prostitute that was last seen in June.

Police say that the four women are believed to have been killed as a direct result of meeting clients and say the manner of their deaths is similar.

Not sure why, this made me tear up a bit.... didn't know any of them. I guess its a little bit of closure for their families.

jesus..missing since 2007. i hope this gives their families closure.

At least their families now have some sort of closure

hopefully the similarities in their professions and deaths will help give the police something to go on in finding the killer
