Political question: sorry

So I am completely devoted to one party, however, I am not a fan of the candidate. Are any of you experiences the same thing. Are you going to vote for him anyway? Are you not voting(don't want to get flamed)? Are you voting for the opposite?

Re: Political question: sorry

This year, I am happy with my party's candidate. But in the past, I have voted with the other party when I liked the candidate (Michael Bloomberg is an example, though he is kind of a Dem in disguise).

I think it's important for people to vote for the person they feel is best for the job based on their position on issues, not based upon the party they belong to during the election.

Sorry, hit send by accident. I was also going to say I do think this year everyone should vote. There is too much at stake. I know people will stay home. I am still kicking myself for doing just that in the 2000 election. If enough people stay home, it can make a difference.

Re: Political question: sorry

voting along party lines for the "sake" of your party is dangerous.

I wouldn't do it. I have voted outside of my party in the past.

I don't have to this year, but I have and I would it the CANDIDATE I liked most was of another party.

I completely agree. I happen to be a registered republican but that doesn't mean that's how I vote all the time.

I think you need to start with a clean slate first.

Sure, you may not like this candidate compared to other people that may have been the nominee, but do you think they are better for the job than the other party's candidate?

You may still want to vote for your party's candidate, because at the core, most of your values will be closer to his, than to the otehr party's.

If you prefer the other party's
candidate, by all means vote for him, but I wouldn't vote for him to just to be contrary.

I also wouldn't abstain just because your pary didn't pick the person you wanted.

"Neither" isn't really an option, in the end--some one will end up with the presidency, even if you abstain. Low voter turn-out will be chalked up to political apathy, not poor candidate options, so it doesn't really work as a form of protest.

the candidate whose values/ideals match yours is whom you should vote for.

regardless of party.

Re: Political question: sorry

i am not completely devoted to one party... i am stuck right smack dab in the middle! so i tend to vote with the candidate that I feel is the best regardless of the party. in fact, the distinction between the two parties is so minute ( i feel they are more similar than they are different) that i think it's more important to vote for who you want, then for a party.
