It is our forever home that we have plans for in the near future. I don't think we'll ever move unless it's to a smaller condo when we're in our 80s!Chat Icon

I hope it will be our forever home! After all the time it took to find this one I may have to hurt DH if we had to move since he is so picky! We can expand and make it into what we want it to be in a few years

At first, I thought it would be a forever home but with five bedrooms and teenagers that will be going to college soon we might want to downsize. I didn't think that we would have too much room when we was buying it

Re: Poll.. "Forever home" or "For now" home...

Forever.

When we FIRST bought the house I kind of thought "One day if we have more money..."

But now? it's perfect. The other day i was looking out the window and my husband was swinging on the set with my kids and then they were chasing our dog. The rose bush was still in bloom and the sun was shining while I washed the dishes. My breath caught and I thought "OMG.. I am living in a Norman Rockwell painting"

I love my yard, my neighborhood, my district... it's perfect. I'm in it forever.

We are renting, so we are in our for now home.

However, we are moving in November to our hopefully forever home in Boca Raton!

I answered other, because we have no plans of selling this house but we may rent it & move closer to DH's job in the next few years.

Re: Poll.. "Forever home" or "For now" home...

I know most people who buy a "for now" home end of staying forever, so we bought a home that could be our forever home. It is big enough for us and we can expand years down the road when our family outgrows the space we have.

We are so torn on this. We think it is our "For now" home but it could be our "forever home". We need to fix it up to sell so we are going to do that slowly. Then we will decide if we like it and want to stay or we want to move elsewhere. We love our subdivision and the area so it is hard. We may just end up moving to something bigger within this subdivision. Who knows.

We are in our forever home. I love it! I wish the yard were a bit bigger (and nicer - our landscaping skills leave a lot to be desired) - but this is hopefully the home we'll be in forever.

Re: Poll.. "Forever home" or "For now" home...

I truly feel this is our For Now home...we like it, and when we bought we were thrilled with our neighborhood. Now there have been some changes and crime has increased, plus we realize we would like a diff layout so when the time comes we may see what else is out there.....for now we are staying put though.

Re: Poll.. "Forever home" or "For now" home...

We're trying to make this decision right now, as we are about to start looking for our first home. We don't have kids and THINK we will in the future but aren't sure...so on one hand it's great that "forever" homes have moved into our price range, but on the other hand it almost feels ridiculous to buy a huge house for the two of us right now...but on the OTHER hand Chat Icon it would be nice to know we never have to move from (or expand) our first home if we can afford the forever home now

Re: Poll.. "Forever home" or "For now" home...

Not sure...when we bought we bought a house that could go either way.. Our house is on the smaller side (1300 SF plus a finished basement, 3 br, 1 bath) but we have a pretty big yard and have always played around with the idea of expanding in the future rather than moving... We have been here almost 3 years and if anything I have become more comfortable with the idea of this being our forever home...

Re: Poll.. "Forever home" or "For now" home...

we are rappidly growing into our home. there is plenty of property for us to expand the house, but i would like to live on a less busy block in a newer home (ours was built in 1929), and probably a different style house.
We are ok for now, but in 5 years we'll need to do something.

For now. Buying a home here is a HUGE compromise for me... there's no way I'm staying in NY forever.

Forever home!!

We pretty much bought our "realistic" dream home... meaning it has everything we need and pretty much everything we want. Of course, there is always something else you want, but this house is well suited for us!!
