POLL: Random Thoughts - Are you tan right now?
Okay, so I'm feeling extra pale these days, and I've been working my a$$ off taking classes/teaching/tutoring - I haven't been to the beach even once this summer!!! I have only a teeny bit of color (on my arms mostly) from doing yard work, but for the most part I'm pale. On a positive note, I'm not overexposing my skin like I usually do, and cutting my risk of skin cancer, but on the downside, I'm practically GLOWING I'm so white.
What are your thoughts? If you're extra pale this summer, share your reasons why if you'd like.

I used to feel like I "needed" to be on the beach every off day in the sun all day...
now, I have made peace with maybe occasionally sitting under an umbrella (this after a little run in with some skin cancer )
I used to be much darker by the end of July, but I guess I am getting all responsible and such and throw on the SPF now. It's just not worth it to me now.

Whatever color I have - and I do have some - is just from walking the dog or doing outside work.

You're so right though. When I was younger, I had a mission to get as dark as possible. I'd actually get mad if the weather did not permit laying out. Now, I could care less if it rains in the summer during the day. I guess priorities change as we get older (and wiser). Hands down, I still feel I look healthier with a tan (when really it's the opposite that's happening), I just don't make that a priority anymore.

I have a bit of a tan through my spf30. I don't want skin cancer or wrinkles so I don't tan on purpose these days.
But when I was younger I was BLACK. I would lay out every day and go tanning in the winter

Nope - very pale and proud. I slather on SPF. Mom and Aunts have had skin cancer removed.

Actually, a bit. But responsibly so. I've been hitting the beach in the late afternoon (3 ish) and wearing 15. I'm surprised I have anything, but it's been slow, which is good. i'm in no competition to be dark.

Very tan- but most of it is fake- some is from being outside and what I get through the sunscreen- the rest is thanks to Dove Energy Glow lotion.
Amazing stuff!

I use sunscreen so I'm not tan at all. I don't think I look good when I'm tan, so I don't mind.

I am slightly tan. I also use jergens natural glow and that keeps the tan looking good

I'm tan, but I tan really easily. Now that I use spf 15 or higher I feel that my tan doesn't fade as easily.

Stop it, you're beautiful!!! Your skin looks flawless.
You'll be laughing last in ten to fifteen years when your peers look like leather (and I don't mean the people in the pic  ).

I used to tan every summer when I was younger. no more sun for me, EVER! even when I go to the Caribbean, I lay in the shade.
I am too afraid of getting sun poisening, which I have had a few times and its AWFUL!!  I also don't want skin cancer 
so, I am white as white can be, and proud

Im like Elmers Glue white. 60 spf always. I dont mind, my day in the sun (no pun intended) is over Skin Cancer rules my mind now. It runs in the family so I like the whiteness.

the sun and I don't get along anymore, she gave me sun posioning last year and ever since I don't like to bathe in the sun
