Pool - At what age?
At what age did you take you DC into the pool for the first time?
DS is only 9 weeks old but by the time the summer ends he'll be 4 months old and i was wondering if we'll be able to take him into SIL's pool before the summer ends.

DS is 3 months old and I asked my ped at his last visit if it is ok for him to go in a chlorinated pool. She said it's fine and to make sure to use LOTS of sunscreen.

DD was about 10 months I think....we were visiting family in TX....
eta - I would have taken her in probably after 3 months, except by then it was November....

Check with your pediatrician...they are all different. Mine said no pool until 6 months and we abided by that...I'm not sure the chlorine or bacteria are good for them at a young age.

I have his well visit this Wed. so I'll definitely ask the Ped, but it would be nice to take him in at 3 months  .

My ped said one year but we took them in this past weekend at almost 7 months. I would have done it sooner if it had been warmer. I just rinsed them right away after coming out and made sure they were covered (swim shirts, hats, etc.). Frankly I am more concerned about sun exposure than chlorine.

DS #1 was probably 8 months just because he was born in October. This baby went in the pool the first time a couple of days before 3 months. And he's not even 4 months yet and we've been in the pool every day this week.

Check with your pediatrician b.c they have very different opinions on this. I had a late May and late June baby and my ped said NO sunscreen and NO pool their first summer, esp with coxsackies going around. But again this goes by your comfort level and your individual ped. We did go to the community pool but my girls their 1st summer stayed in the shade and out of the pool.

We took DS to the beach at 4m last summer.
His first time in the pool was 10m. It was perfect because he could sit in one of those baby floats. He had a blast!

i made sure she had a hat, swim shirt w/spf etc...and we only put her in for like 5 min and then straight out into the shade and changed her. she enjoyed it : )

This is good to know....DS is 9 weeks, he'll be 10 weeks on Tuesday.
SIL has a pool and he would only go in with DH or SIL.
Where did you get the swim shirt with SPF?

8 months old. He was a winter baby. Same with DD, she is 7 months and has not gone in yet. I probably will sometime this week.
