Any feedback on the school district? I know it has great reviews but my only concern is how small it is. Im nervous my kids wont be able to make friends as the "new kids" (4th & 5th) because of how small it is. I came from a large district and if you stopped being friends with some kids there was always lots of other people to hang out with. I have heard from 1 person that it is "clicky" but I dont want to make a decision on one persons feelings. Thanks!

I can't speak to the district, but I wanted to reassure you that kids do make friends quickly. And, strangely enough, it's easier if kids move in the middle of the school year because everyone is purposely nice to the new kid. If you move in the summer, first of all, they have no friends at the town pool, in the neighborhood etc. all summer long. Then, in September, the kids are concerned about themselves in a new grade with a new teacher, not being nice to the new kid.

We moved in April when my daughter was in 4th grade. She made friends quickly and was invited to a couple of birthday parties in June. Then, she breezed in in 5th grade and is now an "old kid" in 6th grade.

Hope that helps.

We moved from a small district, badly rated, to a large district, highly rated. I moved specifically to have my daughter go to a "better" school. It backfired on me. We have not been very welcomed, the parents don't really talk to me or include me and my daughter is having trouble making friends (they all get along in school quite well, but she can't seem to continue that friendship into outside of school). Academically, they are slightly more advanced but my daughter still isn't progressing any quicker, actually maybe less so- as it is taking a little bit to adjust to the new curriculum and expectations.

I guess my point is, no one else can tell you. Nothing is guaranteed. you just never know. You can go and it will be the best change ever and you'll be so happy to be in the new school or it'll be way worse than what you had and you will feel sad adjusting to the new circumstances.

They are wonderful schools.

I agree with the PPs about making friends. Also, if this is what is best for your family, then do it. Kids will work out the details on their own.

The schools are wonderful. I don't think they are any more clicky than any other school. I actually think that the district as a whole is pretty close as it is so small. I think you will find the more clicky aspect with the parents, as many of people in that area have been there for years, going to the high school themselves and they tend to hang together. But again, that is in every school district.

If the location makes the rest of your life easier, then it will benefit the kids too. For example, my new house is much closer to work for me. So I can be home earlier to drive my daughter to all her activities. I wouldn't be able to do that at the old house. Plus, I was always cranky because of the drive.

But, I must admit that as an adult, it's much harder to make friends when you move and your kids are older than 1st grade. In the older grades, there are fewer activities where the parents go with their kids. Everything is drop off. So, I don't really know a lot of the families in the neighborhood. Had I been there since Kindergarten, I would have had more opportunities to meet them.

That is a TINY district, I think their graduating class is less than 100 each year. More like 80's. I have friends in the district, and they have nothing but good things to say. They offer a lot to their kids, and they also put on an AMAZING prom each year!

That was the exact opposite of my experience. We moved into a new district in April when I was in fifth grade. It was a nightmare. I was so sad to leave my old friends. Then I was NOT accepted at all at the new school. I was mercilessly bullied by a bunch of mean girls through the remainder of the school year. I was miserable and it honestly did effect me badly for a long time.

I don’t mean to scare the OP, I think clearly everyone’s experience is different. But I could not have had a more different experience than the pp.
