Possible for my cat to have pink eye? UPDATE=BAD PATIENT!
Tigger has been closing one of his eyes a little bit tonight, like he is winking at us. Then he licks his paw & "cleans" it for a few minutes & then seems better...but still keeps his eye a little closed. He is not crying or anything like that...'
If he has pink eye, will I have to bring him to the vets?
Thanks!

Re: Possible for my cat to have pink eye?
they can get eye infections
the vet can give you medicine- my guy gets them all the time-
the eye will be pink, not open all the way- and sometimes brown yucky stuff comes out
hope he feels better soon

Re: Possible for my cat to have pink eye?
My dogs have gotten conjunctivitis, so cats can probably get it too. Is the eye tearing at all? If it doesn't get better, the vet can prescribe an anitbiotic eye ointment.

Re: Possible for my cat to have pink eye?
omg Tigger is THE WORST patient!
We called the vet because his eye was not getting better. Well,as soon as they opened the door to his cat carrier, he opened his mouth as wide as he could and HISSED! OMG It was like watching a freekin Lion! THey ahd to put a blanket & towel over him, then they put on these major padded rubber gloves. Tigger would not let them get any closer to him & kept making weird sounds..I was actually scared, and hated seeing him that way
But the doctor wanted to do a dye test on him, but knew he could not as Tigger would not cooperate. He wanted to prescribe a steroid ointment, but could not becuase he said if it was a scratch, it would be worse. So he prescribed an antibiotic ointment that we have to put in his eye 2 times a day for 10 days.
He said if it does not get better, we will have to bring him back & he will have to be sedated to be looked at
I pray he is better! He let me put the ointment in thank god!

My kitty is like that at the vet. They can't even get her out of the carrier. They have to sedate her thru the holes in the carrier, then when she is knocked out they pull her out, do their thing, and put her back in there before she wakes up.

Re: Possible for my cat to have pink eye? UPDATE=BAD PATIENT!
My cat hates the carrier. She only gets like that at the vet if I use the carrier. I have to put her in a kitty harness with short lease and let her sit on my lap on a wee-wee pad. Taking her to the vet is a two person job because I obviously can't drive like that...
