Possible mandate for NY'rs to purchase new plates in the spring
JOIN THE FIGHT AGAINST ALBANY'S NEW LICENSE PLATE MANDATE!!
New York – A northern New York county clerk is carrying out an online petition drive to thwart Gov. David Paterson’s plan to require all New Yorkers to purchase new license plates next April.
St. Lawrence County Clerk Patricia Ritchie said it’s an outrage to ask families and businesses to pay more for new license plates they don’t need or want when they are being battered by the ongoing recession.
Beginning April 1 , the state will begin requiring new license plates for every one of the estimated 10 million cars, trucks, trailers and ATVs registered in the state at a cost of $25 – a $10 increase over the current cost.
Ritchie said more than 5,000 people have signed the petition in the first week to protest the new license plan.

Wow, now that is absolutely ridiculous! I bet Albany will argue it is only a few dollars. But for people who are struggling, that money is crucial!

what's the money going to be used for?
we have a huge budget gap that is going to effect people alot more then $25-$50
I would need to know where the money is going before I decide if I am for it or aganist it

Didnt we all have to get new License plates a few years ago when they changed it from the statue of liberty??Why do we need to do this again??? Ridiculous!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the plates we have now.
I don't care where the money is going in fact I'd rather not give Albany any more money so those clowns can learn to live within their means.

Let's not forget that our Registartion fees recently went up.
Why the double dipping against drivers?
Actually tripple dipping because tolls also went up this year!

I just paid $119 to re-register my 2002 car for 2 years....ridiculous!
I am not getting new plates again!

New plates for everyone? What a complete waste! What's wriong with the ones I just got on my new car in July??? Besides the fact you rob me of an arm and a leg to register and insure the car.
Oh, and maybe the DMV and Gov. Patterson should find a way for my Registration Sticker to actually STICK to my windsheild!

from what i have read and heard the ONLY reason Patterson wants to do this is to raise $$ for NY. he does not say where the $$ will go. if someone else can find where he has said something i'd love to read/hear it!!

Then just mail a $25 invoice to everyone and not have to go throught the hassle of going to DMV, using stamps, removing plate, installing new plate, etc.
I don't have time for this BS.
Just send me a bill for $25 or add to my taxes.

Until I know what the $$ would be used for, I am against it.
The only way that I will be for it, is if the $$ is used to go back to NYer's in some way. ex) programs for children or to help senior citizens make ends meet.

I know...I was trying to figure it out online!
I feel like we just got new plates....honestly I could use a set...my front one is banged up but still.....

I just got new plates a year ago... I don't care WHERE the money is going... I don't NEED new plates. How ridiculous and wasteful. Just one more stike against this state.
I get an error when I try to submit on that site... No surprise since it's goggle lol Is that happening to anyone else?
