Possible Pay Pal fraud - HELP!!!
I just checked my email and had a receipt from Paypal for a purchase of a camcorder off of Amazon for $270 being shipped to someone in Gwynn Oak, Md - I have his name and address on the email.
The thing is I cancelled my Paypal acct back in January 06.
I'm not sure what to do? Help please!!

Re: Possible Pay Pal fraud - HELP!!!
It is a scam. Do not reply to it. Log onto paypal and check your account or even contact paypal directly, but DO NOT respond to it. I had a similar e-mail about a dell computer and I freaked. My hubby told me it was a scam and to check my paypal account. I did and sure enough, no transaction was processed. Since you are saying your account was cancelled, if you cannot access it through Paypal, I would call just to rest your mind.

Re: Possible Pay Pal fraud - HELP!!!
the email is probably the scam-- not that someone got into your paypal account. If you go to pay pal's web site-- there is an email address that you can fwd to as well as guidelines to know whether or not the email came from paypal.

I had this too!! To be safe, I changed my password when this happened, but I don't think it was related. I get these scam e-mails on my work computer too in which I don't even have an eBay account.

you have to forward the email you got to the address Elbee mentions above...if you write a seperate email it won't help.

Thanks, that's exactly what I did.
There was a link on the email to dispute the charges that brought me directly to the paypal site but I was hesitant to even attempt to login so I haven't yet.

I don't have a paypal acct though. I closed it after this happened once before - don't know how they got my email address.

I'm really not that smart - I gave my AOL password away a few years ago that way. I just try not to make the same mistakes twice.
Thanks everyone for your advice!

The site looks exactly the same but the address bar said something different so I closed the window.

Re: Possible Pay Pal fraud - HELP!!!
It's a scam, same thing happened to me except it was a watch. I reported it to paypal who confirmed it was fraud, and I had to change all my passwords
