Possibly a life change event happening; anyone go from a WM to a SAHM?
We *might* be changing some of our situation so that I can stay at home, or get a p/t job. I work very long hours in a virtualy thankless job, and I am at a stage where the kids' care situation while I am at work is not ideal. Also, DS2 starts his EI this week, and I just feel like working 60 hours + per week is not what is right for us right now.
Has anyone here gone from a super-type A career mom to a SAHM? How was the transition? Any advice?
TIA

I wasn't a career mom, but I was a career person all the way..I would argue with DH constantly throughout my pregnancy that there was no way in hell I was staying home...I worked my azz off to get to where I was and I needed to work to make me sane etc etc... Well at 8.5 mos I got laid off and they do say everything happens for a reason.. I'm not going to lie it is and has been still almost two years later an ULTRA hard adjustment for me...they asked me to come back a few months ago and shockingly I couldn't do it...some days I love it and love being there for every little thing that DD does and goes through and some days I wish I were at work (brutal but the truth)I'm beyond type A in everything I do, so I just channel that into my days with my DD...it's hard but you get into a routine and just like everything some days are easier than others....if you can do P/T I would totally do it to give you the best of both worlds!!!

I'm currently on maternity leave, but am not going back to work.
I really have no advice right now since it's "new" to me at this time.
I will say that I am nervous about staying home full time but know for us it's the best thing at this time.
I know.... I'm no help!

ME! my boss, friends, and even my Mom was shocked when I left bc SAHM is so "not me" . but I love being home, sure some days are stressful but it comes with the territory. You will adjust , keep an open mind and don't let yourself get stressed out

Re: Possibly a life change event happening; anyone go from a WM to a SAHM?
I was a career woman prior to having my first DC. I never thought twice about daycare and working prior to actually giving birth. I'm in finance and the hours were brutal. I was on a fast track to management, making a great salary, etc. I had DD and I couldn't do it anymore - combination of my priorities changing and not being the superwoman I thought I was I had a hard time putting my DD in daycare for long hours every day and my boss recognized it and allowed me to work 2 days from home since she was born. Then my boss moved on and I had my DS 18 months later I just decided I didn't want to do it anymore. I left and went part time and although there are many days I wish I was a SAHM I do like doing both. I often feel i'm torn in many directions, but I appreciate being home more and still working in my field.
