in between Xmas and until after New Year's. Do you think the timing is good? Will the weather be ok then? I used to live in FLA but that was YEARS ago.

The weather is really comfortable then. I went a few days before xmas one year and it was great. Wasn't that crowded at the parks and it was in the 80's

Re: Possibly going to Disney/Universal Studios...
my friends went there for new years a couple of years ago and they said it was terrible i guess b/c the lines were ridiculous.
we have the 'unofficial guide to WDW' book, and it actually shows that as the Busiest time to go. but i think it all depends on what you want to get out of it Any oppportunity i have to go to Disney is well enough for me... even if it is Packed

Re: Possibly going to Disney/Universal Studios...
i went Jan 3rd - Jan 10th, and it was PERFECT.
Hot during the day (shorts and tees), and comfortable at night (jeans and a light sweater/denim jacket.)
And since it was after new years, all the crowds were gone. It was so perfect, I really want to go back.
have a GREAT TIME!!

Re: Possibly going to Disney/Universal Studios...
My DH and I NEED to go somewhere. We've been so stressed out lately. I would prefer to go to the Bahamas, but there's nothing for Caiden to do there. He'll be 2 on 1/11/06. I know he's young and won't remember it, but I'll see him really enjoy himself now and that's what counts.
It's an opportunity I can't pass up. Southwest has been having $29.00 each way to Orlando from where I am in NC, and my sister is the producer of Disney's website. She's only contract now and it's up the week between Xmas and New Year's so if she goes permanent which she has a great chance of that happening, she'll be able to get us into all the Disney parks for free! Then we'll only have to pay for Universal and Islands of Adventure. Also, she has a time share in the Disney resorts which we can use at no charge. We would only have to pay for 1 or 2 nights at a different hotel that her timeshare doesn't cover. So money wise we won't be spending that much! My sister is also paying for our plane tickets. Oh... and we'll get to bring Caiden on the plane for free because he won't be 2 until the 11th. It seems so far away though! We were thinking of going from either the 28 or 29th until the 3rd or 4th.

Re: Possibly going to Disney/Universal Studios...
Weather is great that time of year. My now DW and I went over New Years's 1998 (going into 1999). The firework show on New Year's Eve in the Magic Kingdom was awesome. The next day I proposed to DW.

I've heard many people say it can become crowded, but they love the way Disney decorates and celebrates the holidays

I went a few days before christmas a few years ago... It was croweded, but not too terrible (it was way worse when i went this year for the 4th - i have really bad timing )/
The weather was ideal, and the decorations were beautiful!
Go for it!

Re: Possibly going to Disney/Universal Studios...
We went for our HM in Jan of 2004 and it was freezing. No water rides & we had to buy jackets as soon as we got down there. It is usually temperate, but it can indeed get cold.
