Post Birth Appetite??? where did it go?
Is it normal?
I haven't had anywhere NEAR my old or pregnancy appetite since I got home from the Hospital last week
My hubby, My father and even I am beginning to worry a little.
I can eat a bowl of cereal and that's about it. I eat about 1/4th of what I used to eat as preggo and even half of what I'd eat before preggo.
Im breastfeeding (for now) and doesn't that mean I'm burning more calories?
I had a tablespoon of potato salad (heaping spoon but only ONE spoon full) plus a single Rib. That was dinner and I was full. I ate half a slice of pizza at Costco for breakfast/lunch.
That's all I've eaten all day. How is that possible????
Should I be worried? Should I call a doctor? If so, which OB or GP?
I had high blood pressure in the hopsital and it never really lowered consistantly. Now after meals or if I walk too much or just use too much energy (or worry), my chest aches and my heart races. It sorta hurts. What's up with that??? and is it connected to my eating habits?
TIA for any help?

Re: Post Birth Appetite??? where did it go?
I would call your OB and look further into it. Especially considering the fact that you are nursing. If you aren't taking in enough nutrition, it may start to effect your milk production. You have to start eating more than you are. Your OB will direct you to your GP if he/she feels it is out of their realm.
I'm thinking it's just that your body is out of whack after the pregnancy. The high blood pressure, heart racing & chest pains is concerning to me.

I don't remember being especially hungry in the beginning - in fact, i was too tired to eat most of the time...however, I forced myself to eat a balanced diet with lots of food groups b/c i was nursing.

That's the strange part.. I'm so thristy. I am drinking more water now than when I was pregnant!!!!!
What annoyed me was the doctor who did the C/S isnt my normal one and she saw me this week to take out the staples and she didnt test my blood pressure or really spend time with me because they were extra busy with 'new patients'.. hrm

Re: Post Birth Appetite??? where did it go?
this was one of the biggest shocks of post pregnancy for me! could not believe i had no appetite whatsoever. i ate like crazy during pregnancy and always love to eat but could not stand any food after my DD arrived. it lasted almost a month but did eventually go away. it's totally normal i think! edited to add that i was BFing too but it didn't seem to affect my supply. i forced myself to at least eat cereal/oatmeal too so i would be able to keep my supply up. as for the chest pains etc....are you feeling anxious at all lately? i know that i had bad anxiety after the birth that i would have trouble breathing.. however, if you are concerned i would def. call your dr. good luck!

I had no appetite either, and I remember feeling like I drank 2 gallons of water a day.

Re: Post Birth Appetite??? where did it go?
I had no appetite. I forced myself to eat. However I suffered from PPD & anxiety and loss of appetite was just one of my symptons. I would see your Dr, I wish I had sooner.
I lost all my weight and then some. Everyone kept telling me how great I looked, however I was miserable. I am back to myself and put on some weight and feeling much better.
Definitely talk to your Dr.

Re: Post Birth Appetite??? where did it go?
I am 2 1/2 weeks pp and I am the same way. No appetite until about 2:00 PM then I force myself to eat. I do drink a lot of water though to keep hydrated and to make sure my supply stays up.

Re: Post Birth Appetite??? where did it go?
are you on any pain killers? I was on percacet (sp?) for my c section and someone told me that it makes you not have an appetite. Dont know for sure that that is true, just what someone said. I had no appetite for days after the baby

Re: Post Birth Appetite??? where did it go?
As long as you are keepiing SUPER hydrated, your supply should be fine. I recall not being too hungry after having DD- but I forced myself to eat really high protein snacks every few hours to keep my energy levels up. I also made sure to continue my prenatals and drank lots of OJ (loaded with vitamins) as well as water.
Congrats to you!!!
