if you went on an interview and they said they were selecting a canditate within two weeks and they would let you know either way...if its been two weeks would you just assume you didnt get it and that ?they are not calling at all

I would try to remain in contact with them.

I also know that my supervisor keeps people's contact info on file.

In the past he has liked one candidate better for whatever reason and it didn't work out with them, so he offered the position to the other person even several MONTHS later.

In my experience they often don't stick to their own self-imposed schedules and deadlines, so don't get yourself too worked up but prepare for bad news. I just got an offer for a job where they said they would have made their decision a week and a half ago, but they called me yesterday instead. I would call and just say you'd like to follow up to find out if they had made a decision, and if they have and it wasn't you then thank them for their consideration and ask them to keep your information on file for future openings.
