Post Partum hot & cold flashes

The doctors mentioned i may get hot flashes as the hormones leave my body.
I never got any after Landon, but this time at 7 days post partum it started. I constantly feel like I have a fever (actually did have 101.5 one night) and can't get comfortable. I am constantly putting on A/C, turning it off, taking clothes off, putting clothes on, etc. When will this end???

I am 9 months PP and I still get hot flashes. I am rarely cold. It started while I was pregnant and it has gotten a little better...

Re: Post Partum hot & cold flashes

I think I am making myself get cold... because while hot I out the AC on colder and I am all sweaty, then I get freezing, so I put another shirt on, then I get hot again. Its a never ending cycle.

When did it become less constant?

I want to say around 3 months. But it was also Jan at that time. I seem to only get them bad at night. Even though the a/c is cranking. It should ease up and get better....It is just another joy of being a Mommy!Chat Icon

Re: Post Partum hot & cold flashes

i have never been the same since having Em....i'm hot ALL THE TIME.....WAY worse than i have ever been...and i recently started taking my temp to see if it's my imagination and i've always been about 99.5 though yesterday it was 101 (which for me is high - as before Em i always ran on the money 98.6 at ALL times and never, EVER had a fever....even when i had the worst case of bronchitis ever, never had a fever).....

i have to go to the doctor about it. i will be sitting in an air conditioned room (68 or 69 degrees) and i'll be sweating...

eta: em is now 14 months!

Re: Post Partum hot & cold flashes

I did call the midwife when I had the fever. I was check for UTI which was negative, and they said it could be normal post partum. I go back there on Thursday so I will ask again.

I remember after DS I was like this this. At night I would wake up soaked from sweating. I don't remember how long it lasted but I don't think it was long.

Re: Post Partum hot & cold flashes

10 weeks postpartum and I'm still getting horrible hot flashes. I seem to get them mostly at night. Poor hubby will be freezing in the bed next to me while I'm sweating my rear off with the ac blasting on me. Then 10 minutes later, I'm freezing under the covers. So annoying!

Re: Post Partum hot & cold flashes

3 months PP here and still have the occasional hot flashes at night. In the beginning they were much worse; waking me almost every hr. As if having a newborn wasn't killing my sleep anyway.Chat Icon

Oh sweet Jesus, I remember that going on for close to a year! Constantly sweating and I would wake up in the middle of the night soaking wet and would have to change my clothes. Good luck!
