postpartum bleeding- TMI & very scared- btdt moms come in!
Ok, let me preface with the fact that I've already put in a call to my dr. There isn't anyone in the office until 3pm. No nurse, no dr. So I have to sit and wait- which is why I'm freaking out..
I had DD on 11-12 via csection. I bled pretty heavily in the hospital and once I was home, it was pretty light. The last week or so the bleeding has gotten progressively heavier. I thought it would just subside again. Last week it was just spotting. However, today it seems almost AF like (very thick and dark red)... I also have a lot of pressure 'down there' - just like when I'd get AF prepregnancy.
I highly doubt this is AF already- I'm only 3 wks PP to the day... did anyone else experience this? Can PP bleeding taper off and get very light (clear, light pink in color) and then change back to heavy, red bleeding?
Any information would be great. I'm a ball of nerves waiting for it to finally be 3pm..
Thanks

Yes, bleeding can taper off and get very light then change back to bleeding. This happened with both my pregnancies for 6 weeks. I would think it was over, but then it would start up again a day or two later.
I recognized AF only when the bleeding had stopped for a full week, then started up again a week after that, and only lasted the normal cycle I was used to.
Bleeding was heavier for AF 2 or 3 AF's after giving birth.
I think the concern would be if you were passing large clots bigger than a golfball. (That is what I was told to watch out for).

yea... thankfully I haven't had formed clots. It's just the very thick, dark red blood, and the strange pressure that's unnerving

Have you been doing more than usual? I bled on and off for 5.5 weeks. Overdoing it can definitely cause you to bleed more heavily.

My bleeding went from almost non-existent to VERY heavy at times. I too would get very nervous. Then 4 weeks pp I got AF even with EBF. You might have a clot that you need to pass, have you tried to sit on the toilet and massage your uterus?

no- I didn't.. I was so freaked out the last time i went to the bathroom that now I'm avoiding it...lol... I posted this on the parenting board as well and many are saying I probably overdid it... Now I'm scared that I did damage internally to my incision site.. ahhh crap. I wish the dr would call!!
