potty training... holy toledo

i never realized how much work it is. every dog i've ever had was either house broken or my parents did it

an acquaintance who rescues dogs told me what to do: take the dog out every hour on the hour, tell her that she's going pee-pee, and to never yell if she goes inside the house.

we've been doing this since about the second day of having Larry. there is A LOT less pee and poop inside the house... but, boy, i'm tired and it's cold outside

this is worse than potty training a little boy, and i thought NOTHING was harder than that

Potty training in the winter is no fun at all! lol! Do you have a crate? We used the crate to help with potty training. We would feed Lucy/Irwin in her/his crate and then take them immediately outside to use the bathroom. If they didn't go, back in the crate for another 10 minutes. It's basically what you're already doing but they're much less likely to have an accident in the crate since it's their "room."
