Potty Training Question
Delaney is 2 years 8 months and has very little interest in potty training. Lately I put her on the potty and she just sits there and cries and says "no mommy, no potty". It's to the point, where I'm actually in tears over it. Do you think I'm pushing her too much and she's rebelling OR is she just not ready.
I'm so frustrated over this because every other milestone so far was like 1-2-3, except for this. I know many moms on here have said that 3 is the magic number. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Potty Training Question
I think you need to back off a little. Just make sure when you go you bring her and show her how much fun it is

Re: Potty Training Question
I think 3 is the magic number if it's the first child.
If she's crying over it, I would wait a bit. Does she have her own potty? You may need to do it in steps. Put it in her room, get her to sit on it, etc. on her own (not go to the potty). Then work up to going on the potty.

Re: Potty Training Question
I feel like I might be pushing her too much. She is the first child. I know at Tutor Time they put her on the potty but she doesn't go.
I have the Dora insert and a step stool leading up to the toilet.
I feel so bad after seeing her cry like that tonight.

Re: Potty Training Question
I can share a tip that really helped me Its called the Potty Chart you put a chart in the bathroom(big white poster paper) and go to dollar Tree and get a whole bunch of stickers they have dora and princesses and scooby and spongebob etc
everytime she makes a peepee on the potty she gets to pick 1 sticker and put it on her chart and when she makes a popoo on the potty she gets 2 stickers and tell her when she fills up the chart she is a BIG GIRL and gets to pick anything she wants at the toy store
it has worked for both my girls my nephews and my neighbors kids Good Luck!!!!

Great suggestion! I definitely have to try this as I have been trying to potty train my son for a while now. He goes on the potty but it is not consistent. This is a great idea!

Re: Potty Training Question
Hi, My DD Ava, turned 2 in July. We have a potty chair and a little seat that goes on the regular toilet seat. Not much interest sitting on them. I bought her a great dvd- Elmo uses the potty. She loves it and is very interested now. I would def suggest you give it a try. Ava tells me constantly how Elmo, Baby Bear and Telly use the potty. I ask her when she will and now she says "soon". Lets see what happens..

Re: Potty Training Question
All I can share is my experience with my son and PT. No advice that was given worked with him - and I receive plenty of tips and trick suggestions. Not one single bit until he was ready. Just before he turned 3 I was worried b/c they needed him toilet trained for preK, which was not completely true. They actually didnt mind a pull up. He turned 3 last Oct and I was stressing even more. One day someone mentioned to me about just backing off and not stressing and I kid you not, he toilet trained 2 weeks later - peeing on the potty with hardly an accident. 2 weeks after that he was toilet trained for pooping. Again, barely an accident since. They just do it in their own time is my experience with him and NOTHING I could do would motivate him otherwise. If one or both of you are in tears, I definitely would back off.

I'll try that suggestion when my DS has to potty train. I know he is only 3 1/2 months old now but I am already dreading the potty training...
