Potty training seat...how long

How long did your DC use the potty training seat?

We have DS and well, "the little guy" doesn't stay with the limits of the "guard" so I was thinking of getting him another one but I'm not sure if its worth it - depends on how long he'll use it.

Can anyone recomend a seat with a bigger "guard"?

He's 2 yrs, 3 mos - and we just started potty training him.

Honestly, I would not use it for when he is peeing. I would have him stand up, otherwise, you are going to have to "re-train" him at some point to learn to pee standing up.

JMHO, we used the potty seat for both DS's for pooping only.

My oldest used a potty seat on the regular toilet from the time she trained (at 27 months old) until we moved(it got lost in the move), she was just over 3 years old, but she could use public restrooms with no seat with no problems. My youngest never used one. She just held herself up on the big potty at 24 months old. She can go completely on her own (and has since around 26 months) with no problems or falling in Next time I have to potty train I plan to skip it again.
