Re: poured concrete counter top?
We have it! DH and I poured it ourselves and are very happy with it. When we moved in the kitchen had tile that was in really bad shape. My main request was something seemless since I hated all the grout lines. The pros, it was cheap and it's easy to clean. The main con is that when we go to sell the house some day, I'm not sure everyone will love it.

Re: poured concrete counter top?
Our house came with it. Personally I don't love it. I just think it's ugly. They redid the house to sell it and used white cabinets, beige walls, stainless appliances and the countertops are black/charcoal grayish concrete. They put some sort of clear topcoat sealer on top but some parts have peeled away. I just feel that no matter how clean the counters are, it doesn't have that clean look.

so the finish on it is coming off?

The house was fixed up within 6 months of us buying it in June 2009. But they did a half azz job with the painting and tile grout so it could be just a poor quality sealer. Also, you must always, always use a cutting board. If you cut something on the counter, you will see knife marks through the topcoat.

Re: poured concrete counter top?
I've never heard of doing a concrete countertop so I googled it and found this picture with a description. http://luxury-kitchens.net/Kitchen-Countertops.html
I think it looks great.

Re: poured concrete counter top?
It wasn't too bad...although DH did most of the research and work. We went for kind of a rustic look rather that the sleek modern look you normally see. It goes much better with our house. Image Attachment(s):
