PP and health issues
Does anyone suffer from a chronic illness? If so, did it get worse PP?
I am having a serious health issue right now (a really bad case of retinitis/uveitis- my dr. said it's the worst I've had it in many, many years) and can't shake the feeling that it's this bad because I'm now 5mos PP and my body is beginning to regulate. I've always been warned that pregnancy does some crazy things to your body. I guess this might be what it is? Needless to say, I'm terrified now.
Does your body change after every pregnancy? For example, right now I'm not doing well PP- could it be a different scenario after DC#2 (no- not pregnant; just looking to the future)...
Any insight would be helpful. You don't have to go into detail if you aren't comfortable.
Thank you!

Re: PP and health issues
God yes your body takes a vacation from normal.
I had a great pregnancy... no issues at all, no high blood pressure, no aches, no morning sickness, etc.
After she was born (like there in the hosptial) my blood pressure went wild. This was NOT pre clampsia. This was just my body saying "wha?".
It took a YEAR of monitoring and medication etc to bring it back to normal. I once was at 300/200.. dang near scared myself and my doctors to death. Especially as in the same 24hrs I went down to 70/40. It was crazy. I had to wear a 24hr cuff to catch it.
At first it was .. It will go away in a few weeks, then at 3mo that it must be passing through me now.. 6mo they said it should have passed but probably soon, then at 9mo and again at 12mo. Finally it went away closer to 15mo.
Then I lately have been hit by vertigo. I never had THAT before and it is utterly unpleasant. Its like being hung over but not having a drink. The world spins so hard I wanna puke. It usually passes in about 12hrs but I'm inmobile while it happens. Thankfully its only been bad once. I've had smaller spells of it lately but they usually pass in a few moments.
I dont know if there's an "IT" to what happens to your body. I think its all a roll of the dice. Lady in my office has 3 kids and each one has come with its own set of very different surprises afterwards. While another woman who also has three has never had a single issue before, during or after.
All I can hope for its it gets back to normal or at least I learn my own body's new 'normal'
Good Luck!

Re: PP and health issues
Yep...I have literally been "Sick" for almost 7 months now. I had a great overall twin Pregnancy ( almost better then with my first)...I hadn't even had a cold in way over a yr..
Sicne I had the babies I have had nothing but troubles. I have been to the Dr. more in 6 months then 6 years.
I have had horrendous stomach problems/issues, at least 4-5 colds, severe bronchitis, skin problems, vertigo issues, muscle problems/back pain. I don't think I even got out of bed till they were like 3 weeks old.
I am taking every supplement/vitamin etc route under the sun to try to get " better" ...and I 100% believe its all PG /PP related.
Hang in there, I hope you are better ASAP!

Re: PP and health issues
It has been a roller coaster here too. First my pregnancy induced anemia that got better 3 months PP has come back full force. I am dealing with lightheadedness and severe fatigue now too. And my IBS and lactose intolerance that was not an issue during my pregnancy is out of control now.

Heather-many hugs! I know how bad uveitis is. My RA flared this weekend at almost 7 weeks PP. I am calling the rheumy tomorrow to find out the answer to your question-I will let you know what he says!

Re: PP and health issues
Thanks everyone..
I didn't even ask my dr if this severe flare could be related to PP hormones. It was the farthest thing from my mind. I only realized once DH mentioned it in the car.
Since I'm going back on Wed. I'm definitely going to ask. I feel like a terrible person for saying this, but I really was hoping that I would be on the safe side & my issues would go into remission after PG. Although, in the grand scheme of things- I'll take the flares if it means I have healthy, safe pregnancies. I just hate being a "sickly" mother
